Forbidden

Chapter 9

The helicopter landed, and when we got off, it looked like we were a deserted town. I suppose all towns were deserted now, since all the humans were either dead or working for the Moon Demon Company.
"Stick close to me, and you'll be fine." Ferid whispered in my ear.
I couldn't form words, so I just nodded. My sword was close at hand, attached to my hip.

Time skip

As the battle ensued, another squad of the Moon Demon Company showed up, and who I assumed was their leader, a black haired boy about my age ran towards Mika, who was currently fighting one of their lieutenants.
"Get away from him!" He yelled. That voice... Yuichiro? Oh god, he's gonna kill Mika. Without thinking, I ran in between them, and a sharp pain shot through my stomach. I tasted blood in my mouth and I sputtered.
"Mey-Rin!" Mika yelled.
"What are you doing, you idiot, activate your cursed gear and kill that  bloodsucker already." The beaten and bloodied lieutenant ordered.
"Yuu, don't!" Mika begged.
"Mika, is that really you?" He asked, still not removing his sword from my stomach. I coughed up more blood. I heard the flapping of robes and Ferid appeared behind Mika.
"Mey-Rin?" He stuttered.
"Kill her already!" The lieutenant screamed.
"Come on Yuu!" The squad that he arrived with had caught up to him and was standing close by.
"Yuu, don't. Please." Mika pleaded.
I felt the sword being pulled out of my abdomen and I collapsed to the ground.
"Idiot! What are you doing!?" The lieutenant yelled and got to his feet, shoving Yuu aside and kicking me hard in the stomach, flipping me onto my back. He pointed his sword at me for only a second before Ferid kicked him to the side, back into the rocks he was leaning against before. Ferid grabbed him by the throat and lifted him into the air. He laughed, before snarling at him.
"You shouldn't have done that." He laughed. He threw him back to the ground, before drawing his sword and pointing it at his throat.
Mika picked me up and jumped into the air, bringing me to the top of a nearby building, and laying me down.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"Yeah, thanks to you."
"It's the least I could do. The blow was meant for me, not you." He said.
"I couldn't just watch you die." I said. "Go I'll be fine." I said.
"Are you sure?"
I nodded.
"I'll send Ferid up here soon okay?" He asked.
"Thank you."
He jumped off the roof and landed on the ground. He disappeared into the battle and a few minutes later Ferid emerged from the chaos and jumped up to the roof, and knelt by my side, pulling me into his arms.
"Are you alright?" He asked, kissing the top of my head.
"Yeah, I'm okay."
"Thank god. I'm sorry, I should've protected you-"
"It wasn't anything you could've prevented. I jumped in front of Mika. Yuu was going to kill him."
"That was very brace of you. Here, this will help you heal faster."
He handed me a bike of blood from his pocket and I drank it quickly, and it surprisingly did help a lot.
"Thank you." He pressed his lips to mine.
"Hmmm." He hummed into the kiss.
Mika jumped onto the roof and Ferid pulled away.
"Ahh, Mikaela. I hear that you were rather rudely reunited with your lost princess, Yuichiro."
"I'm alive, thanks to Mey-Rin. The humans have retreated."
"We better get going then." Ferid said, lifting me up into his arms.
