Vylad's POV

I stared up at the brick building, the door only a few steps in front of me. This is it, the time when I'll see my brothers again.

Five steps.

I took a deep breath and opened the complex's door.

Ten steps.

The weight of the world felt as if it was squeezing my lungs.

Fifteen steps.

I recited the apartment number once, maybe even ten times in my head.

Twenty steps.

The elevator was so close to me. I reached out and touched the metallic button. The doors squeaked open as I stepped inside.

Twenty two steps.

I sighed lowly, and clicked the bold number 15. The doors closed squeaked shut, my stomach dropped as the elevator rose. Looking at the elevator door I just noticed how much I've changed since I left. My hair has grown out significantly, and I have a few piercings now. Heck, I even have stubble spread across my face. The only thing that hasn't changed is my eyes.

With a sudden jolt the elevator doors opened. I stepped out onto the carpeted floor. "Room O3" I whisper, scanning every door I passed. I stopped in front of the white door and stared.

Thirty steps.

Breathing outwards, I lifted my fist and knocked on the door. I heard a small creaking sound from inside the apartment, than the sound of a lock clicking.

The door opened slowly, the chain lock still attached to the wall. The blue eyes of my brother started deeply into mine. I opened my mouth to speak but before I could the door slammed shut.

I looked down at the ground, tears forming in my eyes. Turning back to face the elevator, I started walking away. The door that was now behind me was yanked open. Someone grabbed me by my arms, pulling me into a tight hug while doing so.

My head was in their chest as tears rolled down my face. I nuzzled my head into him wrapping my arms around his stomach.

"Vylad" the deep voice of my older brother cooed. Holding me tighter. I smiled brightly at him and he pulled me inside. The warmth of his apartment gave me a comforting feeling.

"Garroth, I've missed you so much" I sigh giving my brother one last hug. "I've missed you too baby brother" he said a smirk planted on his face.

We sat down on the couch, and caught up. It's been almost six years since I've last seen him. The thought of him beside me even bewildered me.

"So Vylad, what have you been doing for the last five years" Garroth questioned readjusting himself on the couch.

"Well for the past five years I've technically been homeless. But I genuinely enjoyed it, adventuring around the world. I only used my bag, and ditched my phone the night I ran out." I explained and he nodded taking a sip from the mug on his coffee table.

"The countries around here are beautiful. Especially Scales Wind durning the fall. I wish I took pictures when I was there. Also I met back up with Mikai, Michi's brother around two years ago. Sometimes I question how they are related honestly" I continued and Garroth chuckled at my stories.

I continued to tell him what I've been doing with my life. It really isn't much but he is so intrigued by my stories. "Only last month before I decided to come back to Phoenix Drop, I was staying with a werewolf tribe. I saw Logan and Donna too, they have a kid now, Yip is his name I think" I smiled at his reaction.

"I never thought they would last past senior year honesty" he admitted taking another swig from his mug.

I rolled my eyes laying back into the couch. "So Vylad, since you've been traveling for so long. How about you stay here, for as long as you need too." Garroth asks adjusting his glasses slightly.

I smiled "I'd love that" than gave him a side hug. "It's the least I could do baby brother" he sympathized ruffling my hair. It was around 12:36 now, I must have gotten here around 10:00 a.m.

Garroth, decided to grab some breakfast from the Waffle House down the street. I opted out asking him if I could use his shower. He looked at me as if I was insane. "Vylad, we've lived together for 17 years. Do you even need to ask" he chuckled pulling his jean jacket over his arms.

"I'll be back in fifteen, also I think Travis is coming over. So if he shows up tell him where I am and that I'll be right back. Before I go, are you sure you aren't hungry" he asked for the tenth time. I simply shook my head, but my stomach deceived me.

It growled loudly, causing me to laugh. "I'll take that as Garroth bring me some waffles." He joked and left the apartment. I took a deep breath and headed for the bathroom. I grabbed a towel from the linen closet, and stepped into the small room. I stared running the shower and stripped out of my clothes.

The hot water covered me completely, giving me complete bliss. I washed my hair quickly, next cleaning the rest of myself. The water began to run cold just before I shut it off. I reached out for the towel and wrapped it around my waist. Looking at myself in the mirror I sighed.

I still looked very inhuman in my eyes. So I simply walked to my bag and grabbed my pocket knife. I stood in front of the mirror once again.

I picked up long strands of hair and used the knife to cut them. One side of my head looked more bare then the other but I really didn't mind. I clean up the mess of brown hair and throw it into the bin.

I put back on my boxers and jeans, trying to dry my hair with the damp towel. I started walking back over to my bag when a knock at the door caused me to jump slightly.

It was probably Garroth's friend Travis I thought looking through the peep hole. A mop of blond hair and my brother's cheeky smile appeared. I opened the door and he walked inside with a bag of takeout.

The two of us sat and ate in silence, him staring at my hair. "Nice job on your hair Vylad, I just pray to Irene that you cleaned the bathroom floor" he said throwing out the rest of his food. I just sent a smirk his way when a knock at the door came again.

"Coming" he shouted walking over to the door. When he opened it a boy with white hair stood there. "Garroth! Hey buddy" Travis smiled hugging him tightly.

"Travis, you remember my baby brother Vylad right" Garroth asks pointing over to me. I simply wave and Travis walks over to me.

"Of course I remember my not alone buddy" his sentence caused me to choke on my waffles. I started to cough, when calm I glared at him. "We don't speak of that name" I chuckled giving him a side hug.

The three of us hung out the rest of the day. I'm honestly so happy I'm not in the cold for the night. This entry is going to be quite short for now. I'll write tomorrow
