Chapter 3
The Deal
I ran till it hurt, my wolf told me to stop but this mate thing had irked my nerves to the fullest. If I couldn't commit to someone who I grew up with, who has been there for me through thick and thin, then how was I going to commit to having a mate?
I finally came to a stop, I was close to home but I forgot that I ripped my clothes.
"I've got you covered" I heard Kayden's voice say. He stepped into sight, holding a pair of shorts and a shirt. He was dependable as usual. I walked towards him and took the clothes in my mouth.
"Thanks" I said through our link.
He stroked my white coat of fur. I was the only one in our original pack with white fur, I've only ever seen black or brown before. I didn't know if it was special or anything but my parents never let anyone see the color of my coat, they said I would learn why when I was older.
I trotted off behind a tree and shifted. I pulled the shirt over my head and the shorts up my legs.
"I've seen it before, you didn't have to walk away" He said.
He was right but that didn't mean he could get a free peep show whenever he liked. I wasn't a prude but can't a girl have a little privacy?
"Come on, take me home. I have to change so we can attend the meeting with the native alpha" I told him.
He led me through the woods, to his car parked on the side of the road. We pulled up to our house in less than a minute. All the guys were waiting in the living room once we entered. They knew how important this meeting was to our futures. If he didn't allow us refuge, we would have to vacate.
I changed into a simple white tee shirt and jeans then walked back downstairs. I took a deep breath then told the guys we should get going. We took Ian's truck, it was spacious enough to fit us all. We arrived after a ten minute drive and before I left the truck I promised myself that come Hell or high water, I was going to keep my boys safe from anymore bad things. Losing our whole pack was enough and I would make any sacrifice necessary to stay here and be stable.
The alpha's property was enormous, not only was the main house colossal and regal, but there were many houses surrounding it, those must be other pack members houses.
As we closed the truck doors, the door of the house opened up. An older man of average build who looked like a mature version of Evan, stepped outside. He came out alone, showing that he had confidence in our intentions.
"Welcome to Woodsdale, I'm Alpha Woods but you can call me David" He said.
I shook his hand with a firm grip. "Come in, let us speak in my office. Have your pack wait here please" he insisted.
They weren't happy with that but I gave them a reassuring glance.
"I'll be fine. Wait here" I ordered through our link.
