Chapter 26

Promises were made…

A Month Later…

“It’s perfect.” Lisa commented.

“You think so?” I asked.

She joined my side as I looked in the mirror. The dress was an ivory beauty, made of the softest silk. It had a small plunge in the front that only showed the slightest bit of cleavage, while the back exposed my bare back to just above my hips. I felt the slick feel of the fabric as I ran my hand down my thigh, smoothing out a crease. Most would have thought the dress was too casual for a wedding dress but this was my perfect fit, I didn’t need the flowing princess ball gown to marry my prince.

“Your mother would have been so proud!” She said. She placed a small pearl necklace around my neck and fastened it.

I know she didn’t mean to make me cry but I had been thinking the same thing, her saying it aloud just made me emotional. I missed my family and Kayden so much but I made it through my days with the thought that one day I might see them again. I liked to think that they were smiling down upon me today.

Lisa gave me a quick hug and ushered me to the vanity in her room. She was taking the role as both fill-in mother of the bride and my mother-in-law. She finished curling my hair and pinned the locks in place on the top of my head, only letting a few curls cascade down my neck. She placed a white rose and a tiny bouquet of baby’s breath in my hair for decoration. I put a small amount of makeup on and finished my lips with a shade of red that imitated the reddest of roses.

There was a knock at the door then Bailey appeared. She looked beautiful in her red bridesmaid dress. Her hair was loose and fell past the straps of the dress. She looked at me a moment before embracing me.

“You look stunning! This is your day…and its time.” She said.

I nodded. I was quiet today but only because I didn’t want to jinx my happiness. I wouldn’t breathe a sigh of relief until we were finally married.

I stepped into the small ivory heels and followed Lisa and my sister down the stairs. We got into a small golf car as we rode to where the wedding would take place. It was going to be a sunset wedding. It was tradition in the pack to be married on the land that your house was built to give the marriage and house good energy and good luck. Evan had explained that while he had run away, he had thought of a life without me and didn’t see anything. He had already decided that he would make our life together work and had spent time building our own home outside of the pack house. We were on our way to the house that he built for us, he had finished furnishing it and putting the final touches on it for the last couple of weeks leading up to the wedding with the help of his father, Callum, and my pack. We rode over one last hill before the house came into view.
