Chapter 19

The Dilemma

“NOOO!” I screamed as I sat up in bed.

My entire nightgown was wet with sweat and my hair stuck to the sides of my face. My heart was beating so fast that I could hardly catch my breath. I felt my belly as my babies began to kick with more force than usual. It took me a minute to realize that I was okay. I looked around my room for affirmation. It was still the same as when I stepped in on my first day here.

Evan sat up and held my hand, his hair was tousled and he barely had his eyes open.

“Another nightmare?” He asked.

I nodded and pulled him into an embrace. Nightmares had been plaguing me in my sleep ever since I entered into my second trimester of pregnancy. They were always the same but I didn’t know what they meant. The dream would start from when I was mated with Callum and ended when I found him with the female that I couldn’t recognize. As I sat in bed, I wondered why I didn’t know the girl. Her features reminded me of Kara but I knew it wasn’t her. For some reason the curiosity was overwhelming.

There were several knocks at the door and after pulling the blankets over my nightgown, I told them to enter. In walked Alpha woods, his wife, my entire pack…and Callum. Lisa walked over to the side of the bed where I sat.

“Everything okay?” She asked.

She seemed quite concerned once she saw my tired eyes. She stroked the sweat ridden hair out of my face. I was appreciative of her caring for me even after the entanglement with her sons. I guess she pushed all the complications out of her mind and focused on the fact that she would soon be a grandmother to twins.

“Another nightmare.” I explained.

I had been waking up the entire house with my panicked yelling. It was almost every day that it happened but the pack seemed to understand that I had no control over the situation. My pack, the Alpha’s and Callum always came to check on me.

“I will take her to the doctor in the morning.” Evan announced.

Alpha woods and his wife seemed relieved to hear it since I had refused to go in the past for these nightmares.

“I will be there as well.” Callum said.

I could hear the growl coming next to me and I knew that Evan’s patience was scarce when it came to Callum’s involvement with me. I placed my hand upon his chest to calm him with my reassuring touch. I nodded at Callum in agreement before an argument ensued. He left my room in silence.

“Good night and I’m sorry I woke you guys up.” I said to them all.

They were all so understanding and bade me goodnight. Once they had shut the door, I laid back down in the comfort of my mate’s arms. I had managed to fall asleep after an hour of Evan lightly rubbing my full belly.
