"Lydia do you have a tampon?" Chris asked from my bathroom. We were all going through the clothes we had just bought.

"Under the-" My heart froze and skipped a beat. What was the day?

"What's wrong? Here Chris I have one."

"What's the date today?" They looked confused, again.

"The twenty-first." I grabbed my phone and flipped to the calendar app. I was two weeks late. How had I not noticed I was late? Well, I did have a lot on my mind lately. Everything with Daniel- ohmygod! I'm late and three weeks ago Daniel and I had sex.

"Oh my God."  I felt sick to my stomach as the realization hit.

"What?" Beth and Chris said in unison.

"I...I need to go somewhere." Could I tell them? I should, they're my best friends. I grabbed my purse and fled the scene. I could go anywhere for a pregnancy test: the grocery store even. I knew that going to the doctors was the most accurate place to go. But, then they'd bill my father and he'd know.

Oh God! I'd have to tell my dad!

This is Hell.

'Where are you going?" I didn't reply, I kept walking.

Where was I going? I couldn't buy one in town, someone would definitely recognize me. That would be THE worst!

No, I needed to go to the next town over and buy a couple pregnancy tests. I knew that much, that I'd need more than one. I was all about beating the odds.

Oh my effing God! What if I AM pregnant? What am I gonna do with a baby? What will I tell Daniel? Will I tell Daniel? What about Beth and Chris? What about the whole school?

I almost drove off the road as these questions bombarded me.

"Get a grip Hawley!" I snapped at myself and turned the radio to cut out my noisy head. Breathe... just breathe.

I pulled up to "QUKE-MART" an hour away from my hometown. I grabbed the fedora I bought on the way here and hugged my coat tighter around my body. Go in, get the test, pay for it, and run out. No! Strut out with your pride lagging everywhere.

Was it such a crime to think you might be pregnant?

Yes. Obviously it was or I wouldn't be in God knows where. The sign had said population 386.

I took a deep breath and opened the door. The bell jingled and shut loudly. I looked around and saw only two other people in the store. I went straight to the isle and grabbed one of each.

"Uh is this all?" The cashier asked me. He probably hadn't hit puberty yet and was covered with acne and greasy hair.

"Pack of Marlboro's." The guy looked like he crapped his pants.

"Uh-

"I'm kidding. Here, keep the change." I tossed him a Benjamin and grabbed my bag and left. A cigerette sounded really good about right now. I wasn't that stupid though, to smoke while maybe pregnant.

When I got home Chris and Beth were gone. I was both disappointed and relieved they were gone. I decided that no matter what the results were I was going to tell them. I wanted them to know.

I started drinking water like it was going out of style.

Then, I walked to the bathroom and started peeing on sticks.

What If I'm pregnant?

But, what if I'm not?

Either way, I have feelings for Daniel M.
