Chapter Twenty Two
*Unknown POV*
Her roommate was home. Dammit. It only makes this twice as hard. I thought about pushing back my plans for another time, but it had to be now. If I didn't do it now, it would never happen, and I couldn't help Liam.
This wasn't about me or Arianne. This was about Liam and his success as a recording artist. And that whore has him trapped between her thighs. She was ruining everything for him and his career. And he was so lost in her spell, he had no idea what was happening to him.
Arianne didn't hesitate to let me in the door, calling for me to make myself at home, like always. I strolled in and shut the door behind me, watching as the girl stood over the stove, cooking.
"Hey, do you mind watching over this? I need to use the bathroom," she asked me.
"Sure," I said simply.
She ran off as I took over. She was making spaghetti. And by the looks of it, it was not going so well. How could Liam like a girl that couldn't even cook spaghetti? It isn't rocket science.
But I was glad to take over, because it fit perfectly with my plan. It made everything a lot easier on me. I looked around quickly to make sure no one was around before pulling the vile of ivory-colored powder from my pocket. Unscrewing the lid, I sprinkled the power throughout the pan of cooking meat and sauce. It was flavorless, so even if I dumped the whole thing in, she would ever know. Not until it was too late. But I'd be a fool if I didn't save some of it, just in case.
I took the time to actually fix the mess Arianne was about to make, flavoring the sauce until it was more than edible. Just when I finished it, she bounced back out.
"How's it looking?" Arianne tested, grabbing two water bottles from the fridge. She passed one to me and began drinking the other.
"It looks better now than it was a few minutes ago." I grabbed a spoon and dipped it in the sauce, picking up just a small portion. "Try it."
Arianne took the spoon and waited for it to cool down before popping it in her mouth. She laughed softly. "Much better. Thank you. Do you like cooking?"
"I've done enough of it to know my way around pasta. Which is the easiest dish to make."
Arianne pouted at me playfully. "I'm not going off of a recipe. I'm just kind of winging it."
"All you need is sauce and noodles. It isn't that hard."
She waved me off. "Whatever. But I think it's done now."
I watched as she made a plate for herself and for her roommate. When she asked me if I wanted some, I politely refused, saying I had already eaten.
Watching her eat the drugged food made me want to beam with pride for myself. I'd done it and it wasn't even hard. Stupid girl.
It would take about five minutes after the first bite for it to kick in. So I needed the other girl to eat hers too. "Want me to take this to your roommate?" I couldn't remember the other chick's name at all.
Arianne bobbed her head. "Please. She's probably plugged in and she hates when food gets cold."
So I picked up the plate and found the other room. When she saw me, she sat up and popped out her headphones. "Oh, hi! Is that mine?"
"Yup. Arianne was calling for you. You must not have heard."
I blinked into thoughtlessness as the girl went into a long rant about some reality TV show she was watching and how misogynistic one of the guys was. She started shoveling the food down just as there was a loud thud from the kitchen. Of course, I recognized it immediately as Arianne's body succumbing to the drugs.
Unfortunately, Lila heard it too. "Arianne? Are you okay?" she called out worriedly.
"I'll go check on her. You stay here," I told her firmly. Don't mess this up for me, brat, I thought to myself.
I strolled into the kitchen. Arianne wasn't knocked out quite yet, but she was close. Her eyes blinked up at me and she whimpered. As she fell, she must have knocked over her plate of spaghetti, because it was strewn across the floor amidst shards of glass. One shard had cut into the girl's cheek and blood was slowly seeping down her cheek in thick, crimson tears.
"Is she alright?" Lila tested. "Why can't I hear anything?"
With a roll of my eyes, I grabbed a pan that was in the sink, hiding out of site. Lila groaned suddenly, and i could hear her struggling to walk. "Did you use some rotten ingredients? I don't feel so good," she mumbled, her voice coming closer.
In just a few steps, she would see her best friend. Arianne had her eyes on me and even as groggy as she was, you could see the fear and betrayal in them.
I winced as Lila screamed out. "Ari! Where the hell is he? What happened?" she gushed, falling to her knees in front of Arianne. Arianne grunted fearfully, probably trying to signal to Lila that I was behind her. But the stupid girl didn't understand.
"I'm going to call the police, just you hold on!"
And I swung the bottom of the pan against the back of her head. Her body dropped immediately, hitting the floor like a dead weight. The impact broke skin, the blood beginning to pool onto the floor and soaking into her hair.
"A little messier than I wanted, but you do what you gotta do. Right, Arianne?" I said calmly, walking over to rinse the pan off, to clear my fingerprints. Once that finished, I smiled wickedly at the still-conscious girl. "Alright, princess. We should get going now. We are on quite the tight schedule, aren't we?"
