An update on this story:
There will only be thirty chapters, possibly even twenty-nine. So... yeah. TBH I'm not the happiest with the route this story has taken, but I am not the type of person to just delete a story when I've messed up on it. The beginning and the end I like, but I feel like some things got mixed up in the middle.
Either way, I am always sad to see a story come to an end! Especially one like this, when I know there won't be a sequel. I can't be too sad though, because each time you write, you learn something. Especially with a full story!
Chapter Twenty Seven
L I A M
"Liam," an all too familiar voice whispered.
My heart wrenched painfully and I started snapping my fingers at the private investigators, motioning towards my cell phone. Luckily, we had prepared for this. It was tapped into a special computer where they could track it, but it'd take a minute or two.
"Baby girl," I gushed, voice cracking.
Niall ran into the room and was yelling at me. But I was just listening, hoping Arianne would speak again. "I love you," she whimpered.
"I love you so much, Arianne. We're so close, okay? Just keep talking to me. I know everything. We know what happened, but we are just working on trying to get enough evidence on Harry to have him arrested. Are you safe? Please just tell me you're safe."
"Y-yes. I'm safe." Oh, God, she was crying. I hated the image of her crying.
"Arianne!" Niall shouted into the receiver of my phone. I shoved him away and glared dangerously at him.
Then I heard the sweetest sound: Arianne laughing through her tears. "W-was that Niall?"
"Yes, kitten. Yeah. He misses you so much. And Lila too! But mostly me. When I find you-"
"He's going to hurt me. H-he said that if I got into contact with you-"
I growled, glancing at the investigators as they watched the call get tracked. "Harry won't find out. I'm doing everything that I can to get this taken care of. You'll see. I'm going to find you. Unless you can tell me where you are. I can send someone there to keep you safe while we-"
"I love you, Liam."
Then the line went dead. I cursed and almost threw the phone across the room, but the men I hired were smiling triumphantly. "We didn't get the exact city, but she's in the States. In central Oregon," announced Clark, who was taking the lead.
"She's home," I breathed. "She went home. That's it. He just sent her to the States."
Clark nodded slowly. "I think it's time to get some lawyers ready. The sooner we get the charges filed, the better. And we'll gather all of our evidence and talk to some reliable officers that can help us out without alerting Harry that she has been in contact with you."
Niall started bouncing up and down excitedly. "We're going to win. Harry is going down," Niall cheered.
"Not just yet, mate. Don't get ahead of yourself," I told him. "I'm going to talk to Harry myself first."
