Chapter Six

I was lying on our couch, reading a book when my phone went off. I picked it up, examining the text.

Liam: Come by my house at 8 Xx

Me: Can't, very busy.

There wasn't even a minute before he replied. Babe.

Liam.

Now there was a two minute break between his message. Liam: Arianne, if you don't come tonight I will drive to your house and drag you here. Understand?

I glared at my phone, as if I could shoot lasers through it and to Liam.

I have a date tonight, Liam. I can't cancel it, sorry. I lied.

Of course I didn't have a date. The last thing I wanted right then was a guy, especially Liam. I just get like pissing him off, that's all.

"I'll be over in five," was all he said back.

Shit.

I ran through the house, locking all the doors and windows to be sure there was no way he could get in. Yes, I was paranoid, but at least I was safe.

I sat on my bed, with my bedroom door open, so I could see through to the front door. A baseball bat lay across my lap in case I would need a weapon to fight him off.

"Arianne, open this damn door!" Liam shouted, then pounding on it.

I remained silent, hoping he would think I was gone. "Dammit, Ari!" he spat, throwing one hard punch, making the whole door shake. "I know you're here, sweetheart. You're car is in the drive."

"Crap."

"If you don't open this door in ten seconds, I will break it down, so help me, Arianne," he growled menacingly.

I took a deep breath, but it shook wildly. "Please, Liam. Go home."

"So you were hiding from me. Now you're in trouble."

I squeaked in fear, getting to my feet slowly. "Liam, I-"

"Seriously? Hiding a key in the plant? Do you realize that someone could easily break in and do something?" he said from the door.

"Oh, shit," I cursed, searching frantically to find an escape route. My window. It wasn't too high and there was a fire escape I could climb to.

The lock in the door turned slowly and I bolted for my window, my bat in hand. I threw the sill up, a cold breeze immediately flowing into my bedroom.

I started to wriggle myself out, but came to trouble when pushing my hips through. I dropped the bat inside, using both hands to carefully try and slide to freedom.

"Arianne! What the hell are you doing?!" Liam snapped from behind me.

I cried out, moving faster. Arms went around my lower half, yanking me back inside, my arms scraping on the window as I tumbled in.

I raised my head to see I was lying on top of Liam, who was glaring savagely at me. My arms pushed me up, grabbing for the softball bat. Liam growled and gripped my arm, forcing me to my feet.

"Arianne..."

I whimpered, struggling in his grip. "Drop the bat."

"No. Let go of me," I replied.

Liam sighed and ripped the bat from my grip, tossing it aside noisily. "We have some talking to do, Ari," he mumbled, shoving me onto the bed.

"Please, Liam. It was just a joke! I d-don't have a date tonight, I swear. P-please don't hurt me," I pleaded.
