"It's about time little sis!" Josh said, a huge smile across his face as I went in for a hug.
"Little? I'm older than you!" I couldn't stop smiling and laughing, I missed my brother so much.
"Yeah but you're still little." We both laughed it off as we walked to my car.
Josh was a year younger than me, 20, and he had always been one of my best friends. Being close in age we pretty much hung out in the same group of friends when we were growing up. Don't get me wrong, we had our differences and our fights. We didn't even talk for a year before our parents died but after, we found our way back to each other.
I got in and started the car, it even felt easier to breathe around Josh.
"Got any good music?" Josh said and pressed the on button for my stereo. I remembered about Harry's CD and tried stopping Josh but the music had started already.
If this room was burning, I wouldn't even notice
Oh, god... Josh started cracking up in the passenger seat like he heard the most funny thing in the world.
"Really?" He continued to laugh, "Is this One Direction?"
"Yeah...so?" I said.
"Oh please, don't tell me you're one of those girls who scream and cry over a band?"
"Ew, no, I didn't even buy this CD."
"Really? So how did it get in here?" I just looked at him, knowing I would sound a little crazy telling him that the Harry from the band gave it to me.
"My friend Harry gave it to me." I said, looking straight ahead.
"Harry?" Josh asked with a smirk on his face.
"Isn't that the one with really curly hair? And he's your friend? Really?" I looked over at Josh's big brown eyes, he looked just like our dad.
"Yes Josh, Harry's my friend. I guess that's just a perk of living in L.A." I sighed, I know I sounded silly but he'd find out soon enough.
"Sure he is Annie, and Selena Gomez is my friend."
Josh finally calmed down from his laughing fit and put his arms behind his head, the car got quiet again.
If this room was burning, I wouldn't even notice
Cause you've been taking up my mind with your little white lies, little white lies
"This is gonna be a long drive." He said and sighed.
Yes, it is.
...
"Home sweet home." I said, walking through the door. I had to admit that this place was growing on me, I missed it whenever I was away.
"The guest room is right over there, second door on your left. Just put your stuff down and I'll give you the tour of the house." I said.
I put my bags in my own room and walked back out into the living room area. I waited for 10 minutes to give Josh a tour of the house, and he didn't come out of his room.
"Josh? Are you alright?" I knocked.
I twisted the door knob and pushed it just a little, just enough to see the bed where Josh was laying, asleep. I smiled at the sight of him sleeping, he looked just like a kid. Sometimes it hurt to watch him sleep, he looked so much like our dad. But I was grateful that I still had him in my life, I don't know what I would have done without him. I checked my phone for the time. 8:50. I should just let him sleep.
"Sweet dreams baby brother." I whispered, and shut the door quietly.
...
"Annie, you need to see this, wake up." I woke up to Josh shaking me at what felt like way too early in the damn morning. I put the blankets over my head but he just pulled the entire comforter off the bed. Stupid Josh.
"What?" I whined.
"Can you come to the living room please." He looked confused, could he not work the toaster or something? I swear, college hasn't taught him anything so far. I got up lazily and brushed my fingers through my hair as I walked behind him to the living room.
"Goodmorning beautiful, up for some breakfast?"
I looked over at Josh who was laughing quietly to himself with a surprised look on his face.
"Don't you usually call first?" I said to Harry who was sitting on the couch.
"I did."
"How did you get in my house?" I put my hands on my hips.
"Josh let me in, don't worry I introduced myself, no need for you to do it." Harry replied and smirked at me.
I just looked at Josh and asked, "What time is it, Josh?"
"Almost 8."
My mouth opened into an 'o' shape. 8 o' clock in the friggin' morning? I scoffed and walked back to my room.
"It's too early for this, come back in 5 hours." I yelled as I threw the sheets back over my head on the most comfortable bed I've ever had, especially in the morning.
Harry's POV
"So...how do you...You're that guy in the..." Josh starred at me, I'm sure he had a question in mind but it seemed to escape him.
"Well mate I was prepared for this, I'll be right back, I'm just going to get something from my car real quick." I told him.
"If you're coming back then why are you putting on a hat and sunglasses? You're not some secret psycho murderer are you?"
I looked at Josh for a second and took my glasses off.
"Surely you don't want every girl in the neighborhood to know that I'm here, I sure as hell don't." I told him and proceeded to go out to my car. What are they teaching them in uni these days anyways?
...
"How do you know my sister?"
"Why do you say it like that? Your sister is a lovely person." I said, "just not in the morning." I added.
"U huh." Josh was looking at my quizzingly.
I was making breakfast in Annie's kitchen: bacon, sausage, and eggs. Maybe the smell would wake her up and bring her back out.
"I met her at one of the X-Factor shows." I said.
"So, why aren't you like, making an album with your band or in England or wherever you're from?"
"You ask a lot of questions." I told him, "Because we're taking a little break. Plus, I'm working as a judge right now for X-Factor." We were both leaning on the counter next to the stove and I could tell Josh was a few inches taller than me.
"And Connor is okay with you guys hanging out?" Josh asked.
I finished up breakfast and got some plates out. Josh's question surprised me, though. I thought she would have told her brother what had happened with her and Connor.
"We broke up." We both turned around to see Annie leaning against the refrigerator, a coffee mug in her hand. She looked much more awake, her hair was brushed and she didn't appear upset in any way. She was still in her pajamas though, still looked hot.
Josh looked at me and then back at his sister. "Oh, okay." He said, as if he had just figured something out.
"Anyways, I knew I could get you out of bed with the smell of my delicious cooking." I grinned.
"Yeah, yeah." She said, serving herself a plate.
