(Your POV)

I dashed through the forest holding my bruised arms, tears flowing down my face. My adrenaline pumping, my heart racing, screams of pain and agony banging against my eardrums. The pain, oh the pain.

I watched as my village was slaughtered, countless lives taken all for sport. I tried to get as many people out and into the forest, but they feared that they would encounter more demons. Unfortunately, my little village was surrounded by a demon infested forest. Late at night, women and children would be snatched away from the rest of their families as meals or sacrifice. The truth was, they were all too scared to even attempt to leave and set out into the forest, it was too dangerous, no one had the courage to even step foot in it, but myself.

I was never actually born in this part of the lands though. When I was only 4, my father trained me to become a demon slayer so I could protect myself and the ones I love. He wasn't very skillful at it either, but he did his best and I thank him for that. My father loved to help people as much as he could so when we discovered the horrors that this village was facing he decided to set out on this journey and be the one to free the villagers from fear.

When we arrived, immediately my father was taken by surprise and stabbed right in front of my very eyes by a demon. Luckily a male villager was close by and grabbed me taking me into the village. I haven't smiled a genuine smile since that day, it was mortifying and I felt like a failure seeing as I wasn't able to protect my father. My mother, I know nothing of her. After I was born, she actually left to travel the continent and be of service to people. Apparently she worked as a healer but that's all I know. My father told me how much I looked like her and how I acted like her.

I squeezed my necklace made of black string and a small gem stone that was given to me by my father. Anytime I was sad or in need of help, this was like my good luck charm and assurance. My breathing began slowing down and my vision started to blur, I now felt the pain of the scratches and gashes the demons had inflicted upon me.

Had I kept myself awake this long from the urge to live?

Did I want to stay alive so desperately?

I wasn't ready to meet my demise. Not yet...

I stumbled across the grass gripping any tree within reach until I finally fell to the ground completely. My vision was now black and what appeared to be a white light was almost calling my name.

So this is it?

And like that I passed out....
