With barely even a goodbye, Sam and Castiel left to go find Gadreel. Dean was locked up, which left Natalia alone in the bunker. For the first hour, she explored the books the bunker had to offer. Her fingers slowly trailed along the spines of each book, her fingers feeling the small curves or possible tears in the leather spines. At the end of each shelf, she would pick the last book and read the title and skim through the pages. None of the books she came across really stole her interest, so she kept on looking through them.
After her fifth time, a book finally did catch her eye.
It was a lot smaller than the other thicker books. It's material was faded and worn, housing even a few tears. Talia stares at the book for a second, but then slowly slid it out of its shelter.
Holding the light gray book in her hands, she studied the cover. While the other books had long titles and exquisite pictures, this piece of literature did not have that.
It was simply a plain, old book. The cover was bare, holding no pictures nor author, only the title. A title that made the woman genuinely curious.
Soulmates
Perplexed by the book, she opened the cover and carefully leafed through the yellowing pages. They were stiff to hold, showing that no one had really looked through its contents. This made Talia even more intrigued. She then gathered all the pages in her hands, and slowly let them pass by her thumb. The pages went by quickly, the Leviathan only picking up a few words.
None of them were eye catching, until a phrase caught her eye.
emotional trauma
Nat did not know why those words were in the book, but it sparked something in her. Everything she knew about her surroundings was gone, and in replace was a dimly lit cell.
Yes, she remembered this cell. She had spent some time here, but for what she did not know. Natalia just let the memory whisk her away.
There was only one source of light in her room, and it came from a crack underneath the wooden doorway. This made it hard to see, but because of her genes, the woman could barely see some things.
But for what came soon, she wished she had the ability to not hear, rather than see.
The creaky door opened, and light flooded the room. The sudden change made her shield her pupils from the light by covering them with her elbow. The shuffling of steps could
be heard, and then the sound of a cheery whistle.Talia opened her eyes warily.
"Hello, my pet! How are we this evening?" The voice belonged to her cunning leader, Dick Roman.
Talia only growled in response. This was her only way of responding back to him. It obviously did not please the man.
His daily routine for her usually consisted of tormenting the woman, bringing her to tears and howling with pain. "For some reason I get a high off of your pain, my pet," he would say.
But, today was different.
The man did not laugh and smile and bring out his tools. He would not go up to her and try to serenade her. He was strangely quiet for a few moments, just staring into nothing.
Natalia gripped the metal bars with anxiety filling her chest. What would he do to her today? What was his plan? What did she do to deserve this pain?
"I bet right now you miss your angel," he said after awhile. His creepy voice snapped her out of her thoughts and then analyzed his statement.
God, did she miss him.
Dick tutted her and shook his head. "I know how you feel about him, my darling. It's so clearly written on that face of yours. You love him. And that sickens me. How could you go from my most trusted ally and friend, to a disgrace to our kind, huh? How? HOW, LIA?"
She did not speak, but did flinch at his words. Nat remembered the days were she was Acheron's best fighter. She would murder his enemies without batting an eye or thinking twice. She would torture her own siblings for him. She would do anything to please him.
Until she finally snapped out of it and realized what she was doing was fucking wrong.
Acheron slammed his hands against the bars in rage. "You are nothing to him! Nothing! Angels cannot feel, Lia! They are without emotion. They only have one purpose in life, and that is to serve Heaven. Have you thought that the only reason he was nice to you was because he knew you were looking for a way out?"
This seed of doubt planted itself in her mind, twisting its way down form her brain and into her throat. Her throat began to close up and and only staggering breaths escaped her parted lips.
He didn't really feel that way...did he?
Nat thought back to the multiple times when he would leave and wouldn't come back until hours later, sometimes not even acknowledging her.
Unbeknownst to her, Archeron saw her internal struggled and smirked. "The Angels cannot love, therefore he cannot love you. Especially a monster sick as yourself. You are a murderer, a homicidal maniac that killed for me and had no remorse. You have thousands of lives buried in those petite hands of yours. How could someone even consider to trust you?"
Her chest felt heavy, like a rock sat on top of it and was slowly crushing her lungs. "No, stop it," Nat pleaded.
"You are disgusting! A nuisance! An abomination! Who could love you? Who would love you? Certainly not him."
"Please, stop."
"Your trust and kindness meant nothing to him. He never trusted you. He would never save you. No one would ever save your pathetic life, not even in theirs depended on it," Dick continued.
"Please..." she begged effortlessly. Her hands slipped from the bars and coldness swept though her body. Any energy she had left was sucked out, causing her limbs to fail
her and make her body drop to the ground, starling up a pile of dirt in the process."You are nothing, and you never will
be."And with that, Dick Roman left the traumatized woman to her thoughts, wallowing in self pity and now, tears.
