The door to the principals office opens and the Principal walks out looking confused "What is going on here?" Principal Morris asked
"Daddy this girl pushed me and my coffee spilled on me!" Anna whines trying to be all innocent. Wait, hold the fuck up did this bitch just say daddy? If he believes her I am screwed.
"Bitch it was an accident." I mumble under my breath
"Anna, you know that's not true she accidentally bumped into you and you totally went off on her which was really uncalled for." the cute boy said.
Thank God, he actually told the truth I thought he was gonna stand up for her.
"Jay shut up no one asked you what happened" A girl whispered to the cute guy behind her whose name I'm guessing is Jay.
"Jayshawn is this true?" Principal Morris asked turning to the boy who just spoke up for me.
"Yes, sir it is, she was coming out of your office and she bumped into her. It was a complete accident" he explained the whole thing while I just stood there still trying to get over the fact that Anna's father is the principal.
"Amari?" Pricipal Morris asks me seeing if I would agree with the boys story.
"Yes sir it is 100% true." Thats all I said before my mouth got me into anymore trouble.
"Ok, get to class before you really get into trouble" he finished laughing.
How is he so chill and down to earth but his daughter is such a stuck up bratty bitch, how does that make sense? While everybody is leaving for class, I get a couple of dirty looks from Anna and her friends but it doesn't phase me anyway. I bend down to pick up the papers that the girl smacked out of my hand when an extra hand starts to help me.
"Sorry about Anna she can be a bitch sometimes." he says. I look at him then he changes his answer "Ok, maybe she can be a bitch all the time."
"That seems more reasonable" I say rolling my eyes
He laughs "My names Jayshawn but everyone calls me Jay." He has a cute laugh "My names Amari but all my friends call me Mari or they have their own nickname for me."
"Well, Amari, I hope I'll be able to introduce you to the rest of my friends later." Jayshawn says and with that he was gone.
As I walked away Anna came up to me, "You shouldn't be here. I don't know where you came from and genuinely I don't give a fuck. We have too many people here so there's no space for you."
It's a high school so I don't know what she was talking about but it felt racially motivated. There are times that I feel like being toxic and ignorant enough to argue with white people but at this point and time I am tired and in shock. She just stands there, arms folded, like she's waiting for a response.
"It's a high school bookie, but if you feel like you're in competition with me for whatever reason just know I'll win." I shrug my shoulders and walk away.
The rest of the day goes smoothly. I see Anna and her clique a couple more times throughout the day but it doesn't bother me none. I've been trying to create a better version of myself so I don't have time for stupid arguments. Plus I told my mom I wouldn't get into fights or catty arguments with girls so I would like to keep it that way.
I see Jayshawn during my study hall period and he sits with me. He gives me the run down about the school and the different things there are to do here and he invites me to go play ball with him and his friends after school.
Maybe if I make friends the school year will be less dreadful. If they're anything like my friends back home I'll have a good time I think to myself. I was hoping that my first friend at this school would have been a girl but I'm not complaining. I'm hoping his friends aren't weirdos but Jay doesn't seem weird to me so I doubt he'd hang out with any.
