It had been a little over a week since that day in the park. You went on with your life, acting as if everything was normal.
But it wasn't.
Ever since you saw Yoongi, he hadn't left your mind for more than two minutes. Many thoughts ran through your head. You definitely had feelings of happiness from seeing him again, but as soon as you saw him, all those feelings of pain returned too.
One afternoon, you were changing Minah's clothes to take her with you to go grocery shopping when Yoongi called. At first, you didn't want to answer. But after a deep breath, you picked up the phone.
"Hello?" You asked. You heard Yoongi stutter for a moment before he started talking. "H-How are you?" He asked nervously. Minah was smiling, grabbing at your sleeve.
"I'm doing okay...how are you?" You weren't sure where this conversation was going. "I'm good. Listen...I was wondering if we could see each other again..." Yoongi trailed off.
Your heart started beating a little faster. You did want to see him again...and you were about to go out right now. "I'm going to the store in a few minutes, you could meet me there if you want." You told him.
"Yeah, that'd be great, I'll see you there!" He said excitedly, hanging up. You laughed, realizing how happy he was to see you. You felt yourself blushing even.
"Are you ready to go to the store? We are going to see a friend!" You told Minah, picking her up as she just giggled and tried to grab at your earrings. You texted Jae quickly, who was at work, telling him that you were going to the store.
You decided to walk there, since it was only a few blocks away. So after putting Minah in her stroller, you made your way to go see Yoongi.
He was already waiting for you when you arrived. He smiled brightly at you, and you smiled back. But then, it was completely awkward. Neither of you knew what to do or say. So, after a moment of silence, Yoongi turned to Minah in the stroller.
He bent down to her level, smiling. "Hi, how are you?" He asked. She giggled a little, reaching out to touch his face. He continued to ask her questions, even though she obviously had no idea what he was saying.
You were standing there, happily watching them, feeling your heart fill with joy. "Do you want to hold her?" You asked. Yoongi glanced up at you, caught a little off guard. "Y-Yeah." He nodded, standing up as you took her out of the stroller.
"Don't worry, she doesn't bite. Yet." You joked, passing her to him. He smiled, awkwardly taking her in his arms. She immediately tried to reach for his earrings too. "Yeah, she likes to pull on ears." You laughed. Then, you both walked into the store, starting to mark off things from your list.
Both of you had been talking normally for a while, almost as if you were a couple again, getting along greatly. But then, he started asking questions about Minah. Simple things, like how she acted, if she was always this well behaved, other things of that sort.
Then it started getting even more personal. "When did you find out you were pregnant?" He asked. You stopped in your tracks, completely taken aback. "Uh, um...a few months after Jae and I started dating..." You said quietly.
Yoongi's eyes widened a bit, thinking about how fast you moved with the whole thing. "Well, Jae seems nice...I'm sure he's a great father." Yoongi said, smiling at Minah then you.
"Yeah..." You looked down, not really returning the smile. He looked back at Minah, playing with her hand. The way he was with Minah, the way he smiled, just made your heart sing. You wanted to tell Yoongi, but...you couldn't.
So you finished your shopping, Yoongi helping you bring your groceries back to your place. He kept Minah occupied as you put everything away, telling her funny things that she didn't understand, but smiled up at him anyway.
"Your place is really nice." Yoongi said as you came back to the living room after putting Minah down for a nap. "Yeah, I like it a lot." You smiled, sitting next to Yoongi on the couch. It was silent again. You didn't know what to say to him.
You didn't know what you were even doing with him, spending a day together like nothing happened between you two.
Yoongi quietly said your name, getting your attention. He looked you in the eyes, clearly waiting to tell you something. "I know it is weird between us, and that you have obviously moved on..." He started.
"I still want you to be in my life. I want to be able to call you and talk like we used to, be friends again." He told you, looking at you nervously.
"Yoongi..." You trailed off, your stomach exploding with butterflies. "I want that too, I really do." You smiled at him. You watched as the corners of his mouth curved into a smile as he nodded, looking at his hands in his lap.
"Why don't you stay over for dinner? Jae wouldn't mind." You said. You didn't even think, you just spoke. You wanted him to stay longer. You felt better with him around.
"Really?" he asked, eyes wide with surprise. You nodded, really wanting him to stay. "Okay, yeah. I'd love to." He smiled brightly. You were happy to see this side of Yoongi again. You hadn't seen that part of him for a long time. It had almost disappeared completely at the end of your relationship.
Later that evening, Yoongi was watching Minah in the living room while you were making dinner. Jae walked in, putting his things down from work and seeing Yoongi. "Jae, Yoongi is staying for dinner, if that's alright." You explained, seeing his confused expression.
"Oh yeah, of course. You are welcome over anytime." Jae said, nodding at Yoongi. You and Yoongi were both a little shocked at Jae's response at first, since Yoongi was your ex. But Jae was a nice guy, so you didn't really expect anything different.
Once the slightly awkward dinner was over, Jae offered to do the dishes for you. After kissing his cheek, you went and sat with Yoongi, who was sitting on the living room floor with Minah, playing with some of her toys with her.
You and Yoongi didn't say anything to each other. You didn't have to, your smiles said it all. Both of you were happy to be in each other's lives again.
Even if it wasn't in the way you both wanted.
As you sat there, watching how good Yoongi was with Minah, how calm she was around him, you felt like you were glowing. You couldn't describe the happiness you felt at just the sight of them together, how Yoongi held her so caringly, how her small hand gripped at his large one.
You wanted to tell him, but you couldn't. And it was tearing you apart.
