"All this time...and Minah was my daughter? Why didn't you just tell me?" Yoongi said, his eyes still slightly watery as he looked at you. "Yoongi, I didn't know you were getting better, I didn't know you were trying to clean yourself up. We left things horribly between us. You have to understand why, please..." You begged, putting a hand on his knee as the two of you sat on the couch.
You waited for his response, hoping that he wouldn't change his mind and get up to leave. Yoongi sighed, putting his hand on top of yours. "Of course I understand. I just wish I knew earlier. But at least I know now." He responded, smiling at you. You gave him a smile back, but then there was a sort of awkwardness between the two of you.
"Do you want to talk about Jae?" He asked, knowing that you were hurting. You thought about it for a moment, but shook your head. "Not right now." You told him. He just nodded a bit and gave a small, awkward smile.
Taking your hand in his, he brought it to his lips and gave you a light kiss.
Even though he found out this way, even though tonight was a roller coaster, you both knew that you were going to be ok. That you would both move on from this and be stronger, together.
A few months had passed. Luckily, things were working out very smoothly for you and Yoongi. You had reached out to Jae a few times, and after having a sit down and talking with him about what happened, everything was smoothed out between you two.
No, you hadn't stayed friends. But now there was no bad blood between you two, there was simply closure.
Today, you and Yoongi were happily celebrating Minah's first birthday. You threw a little party for her a few days earlier, inviting your parents and a few friends, Yoongi doing the same.
Minah had been trying to say some words for the past week, but hadn't said any solid words yet. You would always encourage her to try to say something, but she could never quite get the right sounds out. It was rather adorable to see the little frustration on her face, the pout on her lips as she tried so hard. But you knew she would get it eventually.
Now, you were happy to get some peace and quiet with your little family. You planned to take Yoongi and Minah out for a hike on some of the short flat paths, all of you needing some fresh air. Minah loved going outside too, her excitement visible on her young face.
Yoongi brought along the camera, wanting to take pictures to remember Minah's first birthday. It was a little hard for him to take pictures though since he wanted to hold her the whole time, squeezing Minah close to him.
Of course you were both happy and a little sad that it had already been a year since Minah was born. But what really surprised you was how emotional Yoongi got whenever you brought up the fact that it was her birthday.
"Ah, I can't believe it is really your birthday!" You said to Minah, who was wobbling around the picnic blanket you set out for lunch.
"Stop bringing it up!" Yoongi exclaimed, his voice clearly getting caught in his throat as he looked at Minah. "You shouldn't be so sad about it, this is a celebration! Not a day to be upset." You told him, leaning in and kissing his cheek.
"I'm not upset." He pouted, turning his head to try and avoid your gaze as he wiped a tear from his eye. "Why are you feeling so sad?" You asked, a little worried about how emotional he was getting.
"Nothing..." He sniffled, wiping his eyes. "I'm just...I'm just so happy to be here with you and Minah, as a part of your lives." Yoongi told you, trying to smile. But the smile only let his emotions go even more, as he was actually crying by now.
Before you could say anything to comfort him, Minah tumbled into Yoongi's lap. He looked down at her and smiled as she steadied herself with her little hands on his legs, smiling as she looked up at him.
"Appa!" Minah squeaked. Your eyes widened, not sure if you heard her right. "What?" You asked in disbelief, looking at Yoongi to see a huge smile on his face.
"She said it! Finally!" Yoongi shouted excitedly, picking up Minah and holding her in the air above his head, making her giggle.
"No she didn't, no way!?" You said, still in disbelief. "Say it again Minah, say 'Appa!'" Yoongi said to Minah, bringing her back down to his lap.
"Appa! Appa!" Minah squeaked, giggling from seeing how happy Yoongi was. "Oh my gosh, she did!" You exclaimed, still shocked, but a happy smile was on your face.
Yoongi was quiet all of a sudden. You looked over at him and saw that he was just staring at Minah, a happy and proud look in his eyes as he smiled lightly at her. You could tell he would start crying again at any moment as he looked at Minah, who was smiling back at him.
You took the opportunity to snap a photo of the two of them. The flash was what made Yoongi come back to reality. "Why did you-?" He asked, a little confused.
"So that Minah can look back at this photo later and see it." You told him, smiling down at the camera.
"See what?" Yoongi looked at you expectantly. You looked up at the both of them, now feeling that it was your turn to start crying.
"See how much love you have for your daughter."
