3rd Person POV

Several weeks had passed by and Lucy had still yet to inform Natsu about the news. She was pacing back and forth trying to get the adrenaline out of her system that the nervousness caused.

How was she gonna do this?

She didn't want to hurt him but it couldn't be avoided. Natsu deserved to know the truth.

Her head snapped towards the sound of the front door opening and  closing immediately after. She heaved a big sigh, attempting to calm her nerves.

'I can do this!' She encouraged herself.

"Lucy? You wanted to see me?" The pinkette came into view with a bright smile on his face.

'I don't want to hurt him.' She thought upon seeing him smile so happily.

The more she stared at him, the guiltier she felt.

"Yeah." She said awkwardly. "We really need to talk."

Lucy walked over to the couch and sat on it, patting the seat next to her. Natsu followed her orders and sat.

"Natsu...I know you are trying to make this 'thing' between us work but..." she shifted towards Natsu, nervously taking his hand warm hand into her own, "I don't think it's working."

Natsu opened his mouth to speak but Lucy quickly cut him off.

"It's not like I'm not putting in effort. You're a good guy and everything but I don't wanna lead you on! Plus I already have eyes for someone else. I'm sure you're gonna-"

"Is it Gray?" It was Natsu's turn to cut her off. Confusion crawled its way onto Lucy's face.

"The man you like. Is it Gray?" The pinkette's tone of voice caught Lucy off guard. She's only ever heard Natsu speak so seriously in head to head battles.

Lucy's grip on Natsu tightened as she nodded, eyes avoiding any possible eye contact with the pinkette. The only sounds heard in the room was a stress-filled sigh with several heartbreaking whimpers following shortly after.

Lucy didn't dare to make eye contact. She couldn't stand the fact that she was the cause of her beloved friend's sorrow.

"So... w-what about the kids? Are y-you just gonna let him r-raise my children?" Natsu's body started to tremble. "Let the children think Gray is their father?"

Lucy's nails drug into Natsu hands, her bangs shadowing her facial expressions. She bit her lip nervously praying to God that someone -anyone- would walk through the door and interrupt them but no one did.

Head hung in fright, she began,

"About t-that, the kids i mean, they don't belong to y-you."

"H-Huh? What do you mean? Lucy? Lucy...ANSWER ME DAMMIT!" Natsu said with a crack in his voice, tears flowing full force down his face.

A lone tear escaped Lucy's eye as she heard his voice.

"They're not your children. We didn't sleep together that night." She said still refusing to lift her head from her lap.

'The father is Gray. Easy right? Now just say it out loud'

Lucy opened her mouth to voice her thoughts but no sound was heard except her heavy panting.

"J-Just tell me. I deserve to know. P-please...Lucy." A pained croak worked its way up Natsu's throat as he slumped over and their hands collapsed onto Lucy's lap.
