Chapter 3: Strong
"Are they going to be ok?" Steven asked. He looked at the two gems behind him, Ruby with her arm around Sapphire and them talking quietly to each other randomly letting out bursts of laughter.
"They will be," Pearl insisted, "If I know those two at all then I know that whatever happened won't stop them."
"From?" Steven asked.
"From being the most lovey-dovey couple on this planet," Amethyst groaned.
"Aw Amethyst are you jealous?" Steven teased.
"No," Amethyst glared at Steven and crossed her arms, "Its just a few days of those two can be hard work."
"What Amethyst is trying to say is," Pearl shot a look at Amethyst who stuck her tongue out at her immaturely, "Since Ruby and Sapphire spend so much time as Garnet, when they do spend time apart they really like to spend that time together. It really is beautiful how their love has lasted for so many centuries."
"Wow," Steven breathed, starry-eyed.
Peridot hadn't been listening to the conversation, instead she had been watching Ruby and Sapphire with interest. After all she hadn't really met them before. Still something about the two seemed off to her, yet...familiar.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Steven broke through her thoughts.
"Nothing," Peridot lied, "I was just wondering what we're going to do with Lapis."
"Well I figured when she woke up she could stay with you in the barn," Steven smiled.
"That sounds like a brilliant plan," Peridot nodded, excited at the idea, "Lapis will find her stay there rather enjoyable no doubt."
They had just reached the beach when someone suddenly screamed. Amethyst and Pearl summoned their weapons turning around and scanning for a threat. Their weapons vanished when they realized that the scream had been Ruby's and for a very specific reason.
Sapphire and her had been jokingly arguing when Sapphire threw her into the ocean.
"No fair!" Ruby laughed and pulled Sapphire into the waves with her.
Steven laughed at them and ran to join them in the water with Peridot following.
"Oh Steven that water is going to be freezing you should really-" Pearl began to say before Amethyst cut her off.
"Come on Pearl!" Amethyst ran towards the water, dragging Pearl with her.
"This is going to be a long night," Pearl grumbled and grudgingly followed her to the war in front of her, although she was smiling on the inside.
