Chapter 40

I haven't seen Nicholas in 6 days and I'm beginning to get worried. I've called him many times, but he only responds when I text him. And when he responds with text, it's a short conversation and he always ends up not responding.

It's Monday, and I leave for Australia on Wednesday for the premiere on Thursday. I doubt Nicholas would want to come anymore.

I've been having meetings with Amy about new movies and career choices. She's asked about Nicholas many times, but I always tell her that he's fine and we're doing alright. We have a meeting today at her office.

I walk to my bathroom and take a shower. When I'm finished, I walk to my bedroom and get dressed. Every time I walk in, I picture Josh sleeping on my bed. Sometimes I would climb in and try and replay that morning over in my head, but I stop because I don't want to relive the fight with Nicholas.

I get dressed in black jeans with a white T-shirt. I grab my jacket and purse and head out the door.
As I enter the lobby, I can see camera men standing outside the door. I put my sunglasses on and quickly step out the doors, but the cameras are already flashing.

"Jen, you look wonderful today!"

"Are you excited about Australia?" another yells.

"Thank you, yes I'm very excited," I give a small smile as I walk to the parking garage.

More people holler, but I don't answer anymore after I hear someone yell Josh's name.

I walk to my car and get it. I pull out of the garage and head towards Amy's office. I hook up my phone to the car radio. As I drive, I receive an incoming call from her.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Hey Jen, it's Amy," she says and the sound radiates through the car.

"I know, what's up," I say turning on to a new street.

"Are you on your way?" she asks.

"Yeah I'll bee there in ten minutes," I answer. She's never cared about me being on time before. Why now?

"Good. We have a lot to discuss. I've asked a few people to come in as well," she says and my heartbeat quickens.

"Like who?" I ask her with the answer already in my mind.

"You'll see when you arrive here. Now hurry up," she says and ends the call.

My mind races through who could be there. I'm hoping it's a new cast member from a new movie, but something in the back of mind is telling me it's not. It could be Nicholas, but why? Does be know that I was told to be in a relationship with him?

A few minutes later, I arrive at the building. I park on the curb in front of it and head up the stairs. I look around to see any familiar cars like Nick's, but there's not one here.

I enter the building and greet the lady behind the desk.

"You here to see Amy?" she asks with a pleasant smile.

"Yeah," I smile back.

"Alrighty, just right up the elevator," she says pointing her hand to the row of elevators.

"Thank you," I say and walk towards the elevators.

I click the button and the one on the far right opens up. I walk over and step inside. I push the 4 button and the doors begin to close. I'm too anxious to see who Amy has brought to the meeting.

The elevator doors open up and head down the hall to her main office room.

I open the door halfway, and see Nicholas is standing, looking out the window with Amy sitting and talking to him.
