"Chin up. Straighten your free leg. Wipe the tears away."
The wise words of my mother always rang through my head when skating.
She was the one who coached me. Being a former prima ballerina, she had quite the skill but even the skill of someone like her simply couldn't be passed to someone like me.
"If you won't learn on your own, I will have to force this upon you."
Those were now the words of my nightmares.
When she said those things, I knew what was to come of me. Mum always said it was to help me learn but the only thing she ever seemed to teach me was pain.
The whip was a plow, my back was an open field with potential. Each strike planted a seed.
With those seeds, the field grew trees with branches that grew wickedly in all different directions, creating a masterpiece with a backstory.

"Where are we even going Minami?" I asked, looking around the snowy area.
If we take a brief recap of what has happened, well, I'm actually confused myself, but first Minami shoved me into a car, picked up Yurio (Who called me names the whole way I might add), took us to a snowy place in the middle of nowhere, met a Russian guy named Victor (Who is indeed hot as hell), color exploded when we touched, and that brings us up to here.
"Allow me to explain!" Said Minami in return, grabbing my wrist and pulling me along. I of course had no choice cause where else was I gonna go? Plus, I wanted to know more about this Viktor character.
"This is Viktor, one of Russia's best skaters. He has done the very nice deed of letting us come watch his performance! Doesn't that sound nice Yuri? I know how much you have missed skating so hopefully this will help!
Well, I just spit out the tea I wasn't drinking.
Since the day I stopped skating- the day my mom passed- I haven't seen a rink, watched it online, nor skated myself on the ice. Now Minami planned to just pull me into a performance like it was nothing. He must have lost his mind cause there was no way.
"Yuri! You're gonna watch me skate right?" This was now Viktor talking. He had stepped out in front of me with a bright and hopeful smile.
Well, maybe there was one way.
I sighed and reluctantly agreed to this whole idea. Before I knew it. Yurio had shoved me and began to run off in the distance. "Last one there is a fat pig!" He called out, practically ten yards away from me already.
Due to being a skater himself, Yurio had quite the legs. They were abnormally long and I always teased him about it which resulted in him throwing something at me but I was always laughing too hard for it to even hurt.
With another sigh, this one being a sigh of annoyance, I followed behind slowly, not even really caring. What was to come of this? I didn't know but I'd at least be able to see Viktor skate. Being a top skater, he must have been good.... Right?
-
The farther we got, the more people came into view and the louder the whistles and cheers got. The noises made me remember what skating used to be like, bringing a smile to my face.
The crowd is really the best part when skating. They make noises that match up with your body. When you jump, the gasps seem to be the thing lifting you through the air, when you fall, the disappointed hum seem to be a weight. Only some of the best skaters were able to carry the weight and get back up and continue the routine.
No matter how hard I tried, I was always too weak to carry that weight.
"Watch me, Yuri. Okay? Don't take your eyes away!" Viktor now said, causing me to break from thought and nod. He looked really excited so it was the least I could.
The arena wasn't every big, nor would I consider it an arena. There was a fairly large rink, metal bleachers that circled around it, and a hot chocolate stand that gave off a fairly sweet scent.
It seemed more like a communal rink rather than one for performing but whatever.
Viktor went off to get ready and Minami went to grab us hot chocolate. Meanwhile, Yurio was already on the bleachers, rooting for Viktor despite the fact that a different skater was currently on the ice.
I sighed and went up, taking a seat next to Yurio, keeping some distance between us for when Minami came to sit.
"You know, it's not even Viktor's turn, right?" I said, looking over at the blonde.
He just shot a glare at me and shrugged. "Whatever. Is the little piggy just mad I'll take something that's his again?"
What? What? What?
How?
It's not like I was jealous of him rooting for Viktor. That's what you were supposed to do.
Now hearing my own thoughts and his words, maybe I was....
Yurio did always take away everything I had though. In kindergarden, he took my gold star, in fifth grade, he took gold in our first competitions as children. There was bigger things and there was littler things but it was the idea around hit.
"T-Take him! I mean, it isn't like I wanted him anyways. I don't even know him..." I shot back.
He grinned and nudged my shoulder. "Thanks dude. I owe you one..."
Did I just give away a guy that wasn't even mine to Yurio? Gee, great job Yuri, there goes your chance.
The claps and uproars began again when Viktor came to the ice, immediately drawing my attention. He was dressed in a skin tight suit, one that glistened up against the overhead lights of the rink.
God he was stunning.
The moment the slow music began, it was like watching a lotus unfold after many years of being hidden from the sun. Viktor looked as if he was at home.
As he danced, everyone was enticed, his fans squealing with excite. But that isn't what I saw. All I saw a person buried beneath a fancy costume and show lights who had a love for ice and not what he was doing on it.
The sight brought tears to my eyes and for the first time, I felt like skating was something important to me again.
-..
After all was said and done, Minami, Yurio, Viktor, and I sat down on the hood of the car, sipping on hot chocolate.
"Yuri, if we plan to get back before work and junk tomorrow, we should get going..." Minami said with a smile.
I raised a brow. "Wait, what about Yurio?" I asked almost immediately.
Yurio quickly butt in. "I'm staying with Viktor! He said he would show me a few things!'' The male gloated, smirking at me.
I sighed and quickly gulped down my hot chocolate, waving the two off.
"Well....I guess this is goodbye Viktor. I had fun!" I said with a small smile.
Viktor smile in return and shook his head. "It's not goodbye. Goodbye means forever and I am not leaving completely. Not yet...For now, I'll see you later..."
