I was on a train, being moved to a huge building. It was a place for... different kids, I guess. That's all I know about it. I've heard rumors about it.
We arrived, and we were escorted by armed men into the building, and into separate rooms. Every day we were all let out into the 'living room' so we could all get to know each other, or do whatever we wanted.
While I was there, I befriended a 19 year old girl named Makati, she was placed here because she had severe autism, and her parents were too fucking lazy and couldn't handle her. She's been here since she could walk. She usually had an assistant by her side to her her do stuff, but multiple have gotten really annoyed at her really quick and leave within a week. She once told me, "Everyone here is very mean to me. Are the only person I have met, that doesn't treat me like shit."
It was difficult to understand what she was saying at first, but I was patient with her, and after about a week, we were able to have conversations like normal kids, from the outside.
Today was her birthday, and she was now 20. so I stole a fuck ton of cookies at dinner, and wrapped them up in a plastic pouch.Ahaha... cookies...
After dinner, I gave them to her. "Happy birthday, Makati!" She screamed in delight, and wrapped me in a really big hug. After a while, she let go of me. "Thank... you, Ro... GER!!!" she managed to say. She had a big smile on her face. Just then, one if the armed men came up to us. I recognized him as one of the nicer guards, another person who didn't treat her like shit. He nodded at me. To Makati he said, "Makati, as of tomorrow, you are released from this place."She nodded. The guard took a tiny slip of paper from his pocket and handed it to me, unnoticed by Makati, and left. I opened the slip and read it: 'They're planning to shoot her. Enjoy her while you can. Don't let her know... to keep her happy.'
I crumpled the note up, my heart feeling like lead. Oh gods... "Roger... I... have to go... get ready. I will... meet you at... 8." I nod "Alright! Bye!" I give her another hug, and she leaves. I stay there, panicking. A while later, I heard two guards walking by. I pretended to sleep.
"... can't fucking wait to do this." The other one chuckled. "Yeah, she's a fucking retard, nobody wants to be with her." They left. I tried to get my anger under control, but failed. I kicked the sofa, and shattered one of the legs. The pain helped me get my shit together. I picked the leg up and slipped it into my jacket sleeve.
At 8, the door opened again. It was Makati. "Hey..." "Hi Roger!" I gave her a hug. We sat back down on the sofa. "What did you do... while I was gone?" "Ah you know me! I fell asleep." She laughed, a beautiful sound. "I'm going... to miss you." "I'm going to miss you too. But hey, I only have to stay here for four more years!" She smiled, and said, "I will... wait... for you!" I smiled, and managed not to cry. If only you knew... No. She can't know. Her last moments... they have to be happy.
She sat through the night, talking about what she would do once she got out. "I want to... help others... like me. I know there... are people out there... that are like me." I smiled. "Makati, you have a heart of pure gold." She blushed. I saw a ray of light. I look up. The two guards from before were here. "Makati, time to go." She gave me one last hug, and was escorted out by the guards. I ran up the stairs to the balcony area and went into it. She was outside, facing the house, almost at the gates. She saw me, and waved. I waved back. I pointed at the gates, and mouthed the words, "Run." She looked at me, confused. I mouthed it again, more frantic. The guards suddenly led her to the left, through a back door, into a little field. She looked even more confused. Makati, you have to run! The guards placed her facing away from them, towards me. I heard them tell her that they had a surprise for her, don't turn around ok? She nodded. She looked back up to me and smiled. She mouthed, "Don't worry, I am going to be fine." Tears started to stream down my face. She noticed, and became concerned. She started to shout unintelligible words, trying to comfort me. "Oh my gods, shut the fuck up, you damn retard." One of the guards said. He cocked his gun. I mouthed to her, "Don't worry, I'm fine. Don't worry about me." After a bit, she stopped shouting. She smiled up at me. I returned a sad smile back down to her. "Thank you... for... being my... friend. See you... on the... other side!" I nod, tears still falling. The guard lifted the gun and aimed at the back of her head. Unable to watch, I turned around, and punched through the glass door. BLAM.
I woke up.
