The Map

Ok, so I'm going to skip to about a week before Christmas. The group, now formally known as the Marauders, has not stopped annoying Severus, with Myst's anger growing with every prank they pull towards herself and Severus.

I walked out of the Slytherin common room while everyone was still asleep, making sure not to wake Severus who was sleeping in the armchair by the fire. I crept out the door with a map of Hogwarts in my hand and headed for the Entrance Hall.

When I turned the last corner, I watched as a pair of Gryffindors jog out. One had long red hair who was obviously a girl, and one had shoulder length, jet black hair. I grinned, I thought I had overheard them talking about going for a run once and I guess I heard right. I stealthily walked up the next flight of stairs onto the first floor, pulling my wand out of my pocket when I reached a window. I tapped the map of Hogwarts and a thick stream of smoke rose out of it, in the shape of a snake.

I waited until they came back around but to my surprise, saw a Slytherin girl tripping Sirius with a spell, then, turning to Arabella, cast what looked like a paralysis charm. Unfortunately for her, Arabella dodged and pushed her against the wall, knocking her out. I pointed my wand to the two marauders, sending my snake like cloud of smoke towards them while Arabella had her back turned, trying to help up her friends, the puff of smoke separated halfway there, with one going for each person. At last, when Arabella straightened up, the streams of smoke collided with the pair silently. I looked down at map to see two moving sets of footprints, one labelled Sirius Black and one labelled Arabella Manayla. I smirked down at it and stalked off back to the Slytherin common room, tucking my wand and map into my pocket. My insides feeling warm with glee. Two down, three to go.

A week after my plan had started, it was Christmas Eve. I lay in bed, not really expecting any presents because my people didn't really celebrate it. I drifted off to sleep in the deafening silence. I was the only girl in my grade to stay over Christmas and I enjoyed that.

*dream*

I was standing in an unfamiliar room, standing over a red haired girl. I looked outside to see the numerous Christmas lights decorating many houses. It was Christmas Eve. I didn't know how, but I just had a feeling. I stepped back when I heard the door creak open and watched a small group of people enter. They walked over to the girl, surrounding her. I noticed that each were holding ropes except one who was holding a rag. I watched the one with the rag tie it around the girls face, covering the mouth and gagging her. Her eyes shot open as soon as the others got to work with tying her arms and legs up. I watched silently, not making any sudden moves. I heard the girls muffled screams as the picked her up and carried her away. I followed. Eventually, they reached a fish tank and, throwing the girl in there, watched her struggle and slowly drown. The edges of my vision started fading. I wanted to help but I was glued to the ground. Who was this girl?

I bolted upright in bed. Arabella. I snatched the map off my bedside table and opened it, searching for her name. I spotted her, still in the Gryffindor common room, now alongside Sirius. I relaxed slightly, still watching the map. Why had I dreamt about something horrible happening to Arabella. I know I dislike her but I don't hate her that much. I crawled back into my covers, lying there for what seemed like hours.

Eventually I couldn't take it any more and jumped out of bed, changing into my robes, grabbing a book about time travellers that I enjoyed reading, and made my way downstairs. I wasn't paying attention whilst going down, keeping my eyes on the floor. I plunked down on the seat nearest to the fire and started reading. "Why are you up so early," someone called. I looked up to see a skinny fourth year with long blond hair. "Couldn't get to sleep," was all I answered. He watched me for a moment. Then he finally seeming to decide my excuse was good enough. "I'm Lucius, Lucius Malfoy," he introduced. I nodded, clearly recognising the name. "Very well known name isn't it? Malfoy is supposed to be a line of pure bloods, am I correct?" I questioned. He grinned ,"that's right, my family is absolutely disgusted by all those Mudbloods". I nodded once again, trying to look like I was agreeing with him but to be honest, I couldn't care less. "Well I'll let you get on with your book, it must be very interesting," he said, getting up and heading for the Seventh year dorm. I chuckled slightly, remembering that everyone who looks at my book would only see a blank cover. And I continued reading, undisturbed, until I fell asleep.
