Back at Hogwarts

We spent our holiday almost always in the forest. I showed Severus all my favourite hiding spots where I hid when I annoyed the other dragons. I also showed him the best trees to climb and we caused all sorts of mischief to the poachers that had taken a rest after I chased them. I won't go into details but I guess I can say they won't ever get the smell of rotting meat, burnt hair and dung off of their bodies. Isla was well behaved and ajusted fairly quickly to her new family, even if they weren't cats. Severus would sometimes leave to go back home but always would return within a few days. I would always wonder why. Sometimes he would go to a nice clearing and meet the Gryffindor by the name of Lily. She seemed nice so I lay off the Slytherin Gryffindor trust issue and left them to their devices, allowing my friend to have some alone time.

Severus had just left a couple of days ago to gather his gear for our second year of Hogwarts. The train is going to leave in a few hours so I scooped up Isla, gripped my case by it's handle,  waved goodbye to my bretheren and left for yet another year at Hogwarts.

When I reached the wizards train station, I noticed the many sideway glances that I recieved from numerous students, followed by quiet whispers that I couldn't quite pick out. I decided to ignore it for now and boarded the train, dragging my case behind me with my new kitten resting on my shoulder. All along the corridors, people parted way to allow me past and kept quiet as I passed, diverting their eyes away when I tried to give a friendly smile. I spotted the cabin I had last year, where I first met Severus, conpletely empty and slid in, placing my case underneath the table. Eventually, Snape spotted me and jumped in, throwing his gear on top of me, Isla leaping out of the way.
"You idiot," I laugh and throw the luggage off of me and onto the table, proceeding to shove it back onto Severus' side.
"Sorry, I must of mistaken you for the pillows," he joked.
"Yeah right mate, you say that."
I once again glanced out and saw a group of people, one Hufflepuff and two Ravenclaws, staring at us, shifting away as soon as they noticed my gaze.
"Whats up with them?" I ask, turning back to Severus.
"I'm as clueless as you are," he answered, turning to where the group used to be.

Suddenly, a tall, black cloaked figure blocked our view.
"Lucius!" I called and he smiled, seeming to be real enough, and poked his head in.
"I presume that you've heard the rumours?" He said, as usual, his voice smooth and calm.
"What?" Snape said, asking about both the strange Slytherin and the said rumours.
"You haven't heard? Oh dear me. Everyone is saying that you two are partners in crime. Some even say that you two are dating," Lucius said, a sly grin spreading across his face.
My face flushed and I shot to my feet.
"What!" I snarled and headed towards the door in rage, only being stopped as Severus pulled back on my shirt.
"It's not worth it Myst, just let it stay as rumours."
Although this was best, Lucius had other ideas.
"Oh, then I guess it's not true then. Would you like me and some of my friends to sort it out for you?"
Lucius' sly grin had turned into one full of mischief.
"It will spread the word faster," he insisted.
I sighed and sat back down.
"Thanks Lucius."
"No problems."
I watched as the boys blonde hair disappeared behind him, relaxing and slumping into the pillows behind me.
"I'm missing so much here, mind to share who the heck he is?" Severus said, turning to me with a confused look plastered all over his face.
"I met him while reading once. He's a Slytherin in his fifth year."
His curiousity and knowledge of the 'rumours' satisfied, he leaned into the corner and smiled as he closed his eyes, seeming to drift off into a light doze.
"What got into him?" I asked myself and got up, deciding to get changed into my robes now instead of too late.

When we eventually arrived at Hogwarts, the glances had stopped, so had the whispers. I guess Lucius did a good job then, apart from the fact that now everyone was avoiding us! I groaned and dragged Severus by the back of his robe to where the teachers were directing us.
"Uh Myst...why are you dragging me?" He asked, not exactly resisting.
"You're too slow," I muttered. Great, I was already in a bad mood and classes hadn't even started. My mind raced with all the things that Lucius could of done. He was very well known to not have the best methods of help. I looked up I abruptly stopped, allowing Severus to walk into my back with a dull thud.
"Ow," he groaned, rubbing his head.
Not taking notice of Snape's complaint, I stared at the line of animals in front of me, my eyes wide with curiosity and fear.
"Do you see that?!" I yelled, pointing to the strange horses that were linked to a series of carriages.
"What? No. There's nothing there. Those carraiges are probably held up by a levetation spell or something."
"But...the bat-horse things that...what..."
Severus just stared at me as if I were mad. For a moment, I thought I was. That was until I felt a hand clamp over my shoulder that made me jump and turn around to meet the owner.
"Don' worry, you're not crazy. Them Thestrals can only be seen if you've seen someone die before. They're 'armless."
I didn't recognised the boy but his robes told me that he was a Ravenclaw, of course.
"Oh...well thanks then."
The boy smiled and walked towards the furthest carraige, his tall form towering over even some of the oldest kids. I drifted but snapped back when Snape bagan to speak again.
"I think I've read about Thestrals before. It's true that you can only see them if you have witnessed someone dying before."
A sharp pain shot through my chest as memories flooded my mind. The kind of memories that you try to hide away from ever appearing again. I immediately hid my face as I pushed through the crowd, towards the closest empty cart despite the angry yells following.
"Myst, are you okay?" I heard Severus call as he raced up behind me.
I jumped in and stared out the window, not allowing the tears to show.
"I'm fine," I snapped, not even bothering to face my friend.
I heard the door close behind me as Snape sat down next to me, staying completely silent as if already understanding what was wrong...or maybe being too scared to ask. I could never tell with these kind of things.

Great. What an amazing start to my second year...
