Diane's P.O.V
As I get closer to the gym, more and more people I see are crying.
"The ceremony will now begin, please be seated." My principal announces through the microphone.
I run, passing in between people. I need to see what this is.
"We are here in memory of Diane Lynn Smith, to honor her life and to help those who are hurting with the pain of her death."

Jessica's P.O.V
"Are you sure?" My dad says, motioning to the the tub of ice cream on my desk.
"I got your favourite flavor." He smiles at me. I smile back. A half-hearted, tear stained smile.
"Thanks dad, but I really don't think I can stomach it." I say, laying back down and covering myself with Diane's pink and blue quilt.
"Okay Jess, but you have to come down and eat supper soon, you haven't eaten for three days." He looks worried.
"I will try dad." I say, my words muffled by the quilt. "Can you turn off the lights on your way out?"
"Yup." My dad huffs.

Diane's P.O.V
I stop mid run and drop to the floor. I stare blindly at the tile floor in front of me.
"I'm dead." I say out loud. No one turns to look at me, they all continue to walk to the gym.
"It worked." I say again. I stand up and walk towards a girl I recognize from my English class.
"Hayley?" I wave my hand Infront of her face. She doesn't even move her eyes, doesn't even register my hand.
"Hayley? Please!" I cry. She walks right through my hand, causing me to scream.
"I'm dead!" I cry. Tears falling to the ground below me.
"It worked."
Jessica's P.O.V
I tip toe down the stairs. Trying desperately not to make any noise.
The clock on the stove reads 12:30. And I can hear the snores of my parents upstairs. I open the freezer and grab the cookies-and-cream ice cream and a spoon and run up the stairs and throw open my bedroom door.
" Jessica?" I hear my mom say from her room. I quickly close the door and lock it.
"Jessica? Your mom wants to talk to you." My dad says from the other side of the door.
"Well, wait until the morning." I say. Already eating a spoonful of ice cream.
The coolness feels nice on my empty stomach.
"Okay. Make sure you go to sleep then." He says. Soon after, I can hear his footsteps walking back to his room. I let out a sigh of relief and continue eating the ice cream.
I pick up my phone for the fist time in ages.
'hey I heard what happened need to talk?' I get over 30 messages like this from people i barely even know. I don't even bother to text them back.
I open Netflix and select Stranger Things. First time I watched this without Diane.
I start to cry before the intro song comes on. I turn it off and close the app. Putting down my phone and the now empty ice cream tub.
