Jessica's P.O.V
"Diane?" I say in a singsong voice as I open the door and bardge into her room.
"What?" She says back in the same tone.
"Nothing." I say, laughing and then falling onto her bed.
She get up from her desk, and flops down beside me.
"How was school today?" She asks me.
It's my last year of elementary school, so I've been going over grade nine courses with Daine lately.
"Okay." I say, moving onto my side so I can look at her, "we started history."
"History's fun." Daine says, looking past me as if she's in deep thought.
"How was your day?" I ask her, wanting to know if her band won the competition.
"Well, it was kind of uneventful," she pauses for emphasis, "until my band won first place in the competition." I scream and grab her.
"Okay, you don't need to squeeze that hard!" She says, laughing as she tries to pry my fingers off of her.
"Sorry." I say, letting her go and moving back.
"It's fine Jessi." She uses my nickname, making me smile.
Good memories
I am very high up. I mean... So... High. I looked down at the huge town below me, smiling because the people just looked like little ants.
"Come here Diane!" I call to her, motioning for her to come stand beside me on the CN tower's glass floor.
"That's okay Jessi, I'm okay here." Mom and dad laugh at her.
"It's scary!" She says, defending herself.
"No, it's pretty." I say matter-of-factly.
"What if it breaks?" She asks, creeping slowly onto the see threw floor.
"Then you'll die." I say, mom gives me a critical look.
"Jessica!" She shouts. Diane laughs at me.
"See," I pull her the rest of the way onto the glass, "it's not so bad." She relaxes and laughs.
"It's so pretty." We all laugh at her.
Bad memories
I look around, trying to catch a glimpse of Diane's short blond hair.
"Diane?" I call out helplessly. My voice is immediately eaten up by the loud voices of small children all around me.
"Diane?" I call louder.
"Jessica?" I can hear her voice, but I still can't see her.
"Have you seen a girl with really long hair who's this high?" I can hear her. Which means she must be close now.
"Diane!" I call again, running in the direction of her voice.
"Jessi?" She asks. I still can't see her.
"Where are you?" Some of the people Infront of me give dirty looks to the figure pushing its way through them.
"Diane!" I throw myself into her arms and she encircles me.
"You need to stay with me Jessi, I was so worried." She complains as she pulls me away from the growing crowd and to a bench by the pond.
"How 'bout we watch the show from here." She suggests. I can see the stage still, so I nod my head yes.
"Stay here!" She orders, I nod my head again.
More good.
"Baby are you down down down down down?" I laugh at Diane as she signs terribly from the other side of her door.
I tap on the door and wait.
"Come in!" Both her and her friend Margret say. Margret grumbles something to Diane.
I open the door and skip in.
"Hey rat." Margret laughs. Diane doesn't say anything.
"What does that mean?" I ask. I can feel my eyes widen in confusion.
"It means you are a tattle tale and a stupid head." Margret adds.
"Mommy says we can't say that word, so neither can you!" I yell at her. Margret's face turns red.
"Jessica just go away." Diane yells at me.
"Why are you so mean to me!" I whine, slamming Diane's door behind me. Mommy's going to be so mad at her when I tell her
'It means you are a tattle tale's Margret's words hunt me.
So maybe no tattling.
I go into my room and close the door. I really hope Diane comes in here and says she's sorry. If she doesn't I'll never forgive her.
"Jessi?" Daine's voice says from the other side of my door, "can I please come in?"
I cross my arms and stomp my feet, but let her in anyway.
"Fine." I huff, closing the door after she walks in.
"Jessi, I'm sorry that I didn't stand up for you. Margret wasn't being very nice." Diane says, moving towards me. I walk back from her, she can't touch me.
"You're a meany!" I spit at her, my foamy silivia landing on her pink sock.
"Ew!" Diane complains, pulling off the sock and throwing it at me.
"Sorry." I say, putting my head down with guilt.
"It's alright." Daine says, already moving towards me to hug me.
"Please, let's never fight again." I agree, and we hug until Margret barged into the room and complains to Diane.
