IAN
... Complete silence.
I demanded Olivia to tell me the truth but all I'm getting from her is complete silence.
We're sitting on her slashed up couch and I've been waiting for her to tell me something; what is she hiding, what is she scared of or why did someone break in?
Is she involved?
"Have you found out what happened to that missing person?" She finally spoke with an unsure voice; a scared and shattered voice.
"Jonathan Garfield?"
She nodded.
"Not yet" I answered as I scanned her body language. She was fiddling with her thumbs that's lying on her lap as she looked down on the floor.
"The day after the charity dance..." She started to explain with a soft voice and my eyes immediately concentrated on her emerald ones.
"I remembered that I forgot my clutch at the hotel" she laughed without humor. "So typical of me" Yes, it's just like the Olivia I used to know. "So I went to the ballroom in search for it, and I finally found it in the women's bathroom. When I was about to exit, I heard two voices outside..."
She stopped explaining and raised her gaze from the floor to my brown orbs.
"Who did the voices belong to?" I questioned when she didn't continue.
"Mr. Garfield ..." She said hesitantly and then her whole expression turned into fright as she continued. "And the other... Belonged to Mr. Mayfair." She finished before she became quiet for a long time, looking unsure as if she didn't know if she was supposed to tell me the rest, but then she continued. "He informed Mr. Mayfair that someone was embezzling funds"
My eyes widened in surprise, yet it wasn't really a surprise since this was our theory; the missing person case have something to do with the embezzlement.
"Are you sure?" I questioned, needing to know it for sure.
"Yes" she answered simply and without a doubt. "He told someone to... Dispose of Jonathan."
This changes everything, now we have a way to get to him. We have a witnesses, someone who can clarify our theories. Someone who... Are going to be in danger if anyone finds out.
And someone already have.
Or at least suspect something.
"You're in danger" I breathed out as I realized.
Her head perked up as if in shock but then exhaled in defeat and said "I figured" and hung her head low.
"We need to get you into a witness protection program"
"Woah, don't you think that's a little too much?" she disagreed. "It can't be that bad"
"He probably killed a man" I cleared my throat. "Grace"
"Right..." She remembered. "I'll be fine living at Sam's place"
A piece of my heart shattered. Right... Fiancé.
"You won't be safe with him" I argued, but not because I don't want them to be together but because I know they will find her.
Fine, it might be because of both.
"They probably already know you're involved with each other." I tried to make her understand the situation.
She was quiet for a while and thought about my reasons. Her gaze scanned her broken apartment before settling on my eyes.
