IAN
We had met with Sam and Jonathan at a secure location, chosen by the bastard himself. It was at a popular cafe in the early morning as everyone was buying breakfast - but mostly coffee - and it was so fucking packed with people, you could hardly see us sitting at the table far back.
Jonathan was ready to tell us everything; how he stumbled into the embezzlement shit, how he confronted Preston Mayfair and how Sam saved him from the other goons. I wanted to snort at the thought of Sam saving him but even I had to admit... he actually did something good for once.
Sure, I fucking hate him for practically keeping Olivia away from me.
... But, something deep down within me knows that he cares for her. Maybe he had his reasons? Maybe she was in danger somehow and he had to protect her? Maybe he really are a good guy who not only saved Jonathan but her too in a way I just don't know about?
Nope, not fucking possible - he's still a bastard deep down.
After Jonathan had explained everything, Sam left him in our care saying he trusted us and needed to go to work and 'prepare some things' - whatever that meant.
When we arrived at the precinct again, we all followed the chief into his office and started to establish Jonathan's living arrangements and inform him about what to come; warned him about how they would react and what they might do to get to him so that he won't testify. We had to prepare him for what might happen since we don't know how Mayfair will react and after all... he is extremely powerful in more ways than one.
Jonathan was placed in Adam and the new golden rookie's care since I convinced them that I had to be around Olivia. It was true though; Olivia are my first priority and I would rather die before losing her again. Who knows what Mayfair thinks she knows about him and the embezzlement.
'Morning sweetheart' I quickly texted Olivia when the chief introduced Jonathan to Maria - the rookie - before informing her of her new duties. 'I'm at the precinct now, establishing Jonathan's living arrangement and such. Will be home in a few hours. A rookie and Adam will be taking care of Jonathan so that I can come home to you tonight.' I informed her, feeling happy and couldn't help but smile when I realized that I wrote home. Sure, it really are my home but it feels more like our home; just like we always saw ourselves in the future when we were younger and now we were finally there - together again.
'Good, I miss you' she soon texted back. A bright smile formed on my face but before I could write something back, she had texted me again. 'What about Sam? He's still there?'
I frowned at the mention of Sam but could also understand why she wondered. After all the trust she put in him, he ended up betraying her in a way.
'I miss you too, and no, he left a while ago.' I answered her question. 'I'll be home soon, I love you.'
My heart ached slightly in pain when all she answered was 'See you soon.' But when I thought about it further, I wouldn't want her to tell me those important words over a text and especially if she didn't feel it back yet.
I have known her for years, I remember our past and our memories. She, however do not. It's not a surprise she's not ready, are not feeling it as I am since in her mind - we practically just met.
But it's coming back to her. She remembered something. I'm not going to lie though, I thought she remembered everything when she said those words - I remember - but it was only one memory she remembered and it was a disappointment.
