Even tucked into Cade's side, Evie was shivering. As the hours dragged on with no power, the temperature in the apartment got lower and lower. It was in the teens outside, and forty inside. Considering all of her injuries, her body was struggling with healing them and keeping her temperature up.
"I know a good way to keep us both warm." He joked cheekily, nipping at her ear.
She shoved him away, bundling herself further. "I'm fine. Thank you very much."
Cade pulled her back into his side. They had just been talking on the couch, enjoying one another's company in the dark.
"The water heater runs on gas. I could probably run you a bath." He offers.
She bit her lip and then nodded. Cade got up to go run a bath for her, seemingly unperturbed by the cold. Once again, he returned for her and picked her up like she weighed no more than a feather and placed her on the bathroom counter.
He went to leave, but the thought suddenly panicked her. "No, wait." She grabbed him by the shirt. "You..." Even in the dark, his gray eyes glittered like silver.
"You're scared." He frowned.
"Just of being alone." She replied softly. "I woke up alone... I thought you were dead too."
"Hm."
Evie bit her lip nervously. Which unbeknownst to her drove him crazy. "You've seen me naked enough times. It's also dark. Just... Just stay in here with me. I barely have enough range of motion to take off my shirt anyway. I'll probably need help."
"You're sure?" He asked.
The drunk part of her replied. Evie gently tugged on his belt. "If you're still cold you could join me."
His gaze darkened. "Say what now?"
She bit her lip again. "You're cold too. I'll have to get you to wash my hair and stuff, so you might as well. I've got car particles and blood all in my hair and as I said my range of motion leaves much to be desired."
He pulled out the memory of her standing under the shower spray, bubbles running over her smooth skin.
In the dark, Cade picked up the bottom of her shirt and pulled it over her head. Even though it was dark, he could just make out her sensuous lips. They drove him mad. He was admittedly transfixed every time she spoke. Lovely, lovely lips.
Evie caught his stare. Confidence soaring, she parted her knees for him to stand between. His breaths growing impatient, he unclasped her bra from the front, briefly marveling at her breasts before pulling the fabric and minor padding from her shoulders. It's not like she needed it.
"If you were mine you wouldn't even wear one of these." Cade murmured, throwing her bra to the floor.
Naturally, she blushed. Cade settled his eyes on her jeans, popping off the top button and working the denim down her hips. As they came off, Evie pulled at the hem of his shirt which he dutifully pulled over his head. She reached out to touch the bruise that the seatbelt had made, but he snagged her hands.
"Don't touch me." He murmured.
Disheartened, Evie drew away her hands.
Cade pulled on her panties, drawing them off. Like this, she was a sight to behold, even while battered and bruised. His jeans came off next, but at Evie's request his own underwear stayed on.
He wanted to do horrible things to her body.
Instead, she wound her arms around his neck and he picked her up again. They sank into the warm water, Evie curled up very happily in his lap and he tucked his face into her shoulder, breathing in the scent of her hair.
