Gone. He looked away for five seconds, and she was gone. Poof. A vanishing trick by a master magician.
He watched her walk into the pharmacy, then walk out. She walked down the street, back to campus, and then some drunk-ass motherfucker walked into him, and then Evie was gone, along with the drunk idiot.
Fuck.
Fuck!
God damn it, FUCK!
She bought a pregnancy test, a coke, and her favorite candy and DIS-THE-FUCK-APPEARED!
Did she know he was tailing her? Was someone else tailing her? Do they know she's probably pregnant? Why couldn't he just remembered to be a good boy and use a FUCKING condom?
Because he's a bad boy, like Evie says.
And like Evie says, bad boys like himself get what they want, when they want it.
He turns, off to go get what he wants.
•
"I entrusted you with the tail during school hours, Lila. Don't play shit with me. You've got a photographic memory. Remember something." Cade releases her throat.
"I am loyal to one." She splutters, coughing.
His brute hands lock around her neck, cutting off air flow. He's heard that bullshit before. Who the fuck says it? What gang's motto is that?
"Who?! Who took Evangeline Marie Lacoste?!" He demands.
"I am loyal to one." She repeats.
I am loyal to one.
Fuming, he throws Lila down on the concrete, rendering the girl unconscious as the metal chair clashes loudly. Cade grabs his leather jacket, off to kill his father.

The men at the gate pose no threat. They're hesitant to try and capture him, probably not been given exact instructions on what to do with Carlos Antonio Giovanni DeMarco, alias, Caden Jack Harmon.
He takes them out effortlessly, one passed out and the other — actually, he's not sure of that one. He isn't getting up any time soon, that's for sure.
He walks straight up to the house, easily pushing open the French doors. "I'm home, fuckers." He mutters. A maid sees him and her eyes widen in terror. She shrieks, dropping her glassware most likely meant for the sunroom and running away.
He stalks throughout the mostly empty house, searching for Evangeline. He starts with the basement, going up. He finally reaches the top floor, as the infirmary, where he briefly listens to his father's baritone, a female voice, and a sharp cry —
Evie.
He walks straight in, uncaring of the consequences.
Her bright green eyes instantly dart to him and she jumps out of the doctor's grip on her bleeding wrist, hugging him and sobbing like she hasn't seen him in years. It feels like years. "I fucking hate you, you stupid bastard," she cries, feebly punching him in the shoulder.
His father would obviously disapprove of the display of affection, and that he shows any sort of affection of any woman at all, but what can he say? The little terrified doe melted his heart from the minute she looked up at him with her gorgeous green eyes. She smells like home. It's true, and it's fucking cheesy as hell, but she's his favorite place. Inside her, in her arms, in her brain, in her thoughts and little musings. They finally break apart and the woman gently coaxes Evie to sit back down and have her wounds treated. The doctor appears very charismatic and amusing, making Evie laugh through the last of her tears.
