Since Evie had pried so deeply into Cade's past, and she now knew almost everything about him, it was her turn.
"What happened to you?" He asked.
She looked suddenly uncomfortable. "I don't know what you mean."
His gaze darkened. "Yes, you do. I've always known you held back on telling me about what happened with Jaime. I know your tells."
She turned away from him.
"No, it wasn't just that." She murmurs. She swallows the lump in her throat. "I couldn't get away."
Realization washed over him.
"Cade," she murmurs, her voice painfully quiet, but steady, "I told you that you couldn't possibly know whether or not I was a virgin - because I don't know whether or not I am. I threw up and blacked out. My parents had died a few weeks before, and I just didn't want to feel anymore. I woke up and-" she swallows hard, her eyes brimming with harbored tears, "I didn't have clothes on."
Cade seized her very suddenly in a hug, nearly crushing her to death. Having finally said the words out loud, she sobbed into his shoulder.
"I'll kill the bastard I swear to god." Cade muttered harshly into her hair.
Evie lifted her head and found solace in his firm lips, wanting to feel small and protected in his arms. She found it all there.

Cade ran his fingers underneath the strap of her floral dress, kissing the side of her neck. "You look pretty." He murmurs, moving his lips down her shoulder.
She leaned into his grasp, feeling a newfound weightlessness. She's never told anybody what she told Cade before.
She'd take back what she thought about secrets. Having him help her shoulder the burden felt so much better than she had in the last two years.
There must've been something unique about Cade's touch. Firm, yet never too hard, and confident. She adored his confidence.
Transfixed by her beauty, Cade ran one of his hands down her arm and kissed the back of her hand.
"We better go before we get caught up again." She tells him.
"But I want to be caught up so badly." He tells her with a grin. "I wish to make sweet, sweet love to you."
She flushed. It's the first time he didn't call it fucking. Evie wondered what had changed.
"In time." She murmurs.
"So you admit its going to happen?" He asks, running his hands up her waist.
"Maybe if you're on your best behavior." She told him.
"That's my line, sunshine."
Evie laughs, "Actually, the line was 'maybe on good behavior.' I stole nothing. I'm telling you to be on your very, very best behavior, my bad boy."
This time, he rolled his eyes at her. "Alright, babe. Whatever you say."
"I'm very excited to interrogate Angela about you." She told him, turning around and taking his hands in hers. She brushed her thumbs over his art covered hands.
"You do realize I would tell you anything you wanted to know." Cade informs her.
She shrugs. "I want an outside view. We're all blind to ourselves."
My insightful sunshine. I'm in love, should I tell you?
No, he couldn't.
Not today.
