We all know that the weasley sweaters are a tradition. But how did they start? When did they start? They first started off as a way to tell Fred and George apart. It didn't use to be a Christmas present. That started because Percy got jealous of the sweaters Fred and George had. So Molly knitted a sweater for him- which made Charlie jealous. So pretty soon, Molly had knitted sweaters for all her kids, and when she was pregnant with Ron, she decided to knit a sweater for Arthur as well, and give out the sweaters as Christmas presents.
