When Freddie Weasley got landed in detention for the first time, he expected his parents to send him a howler. They did (Although his mother did nearly all of the yelling. The George said was "YOU COULD HAVE DONE BETTER!"). But he also got a letter from his father that said, "We're proud of you."
Freddie some how got the feeling that the other person in 'we' was not his mother.
