After Fred died, George went home, and locked himself in their room. He refused to believe Fred was gone, and wouldn't come out of the room. An hour or two after he shut himself in, Ginny came to the door. She didn't speak, but pushed something underneath the door. George picked it up, and realized it was Fred's clock hand. From that day forward, he wore it around his neck on a chain, never taking it off until the day he died.
