Chapter 26: Snow wars

Harry woke up with a white light coming through his window. He opened his eyes, gazed over Ron's sleeping body and looked out. And there, marvellous sight. The ground was covered in fresh snow so smooth that it took his breath away. The lake was nothing more than a giant surface of the frozen glass. Every tree of the Forbidden forest was covered in frost and snowflakes. Everywhere his eyes could reach was white and shiny like the snow was actually crushed diamonds.

Harry stretched and got out of bed. He walked to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. For the first time in forever, he looked alive. He wasn't pale, his eyes were awake and there was a smile on his face.

He heard a knock on the door and told Ron to come in.

'You know, we could play snow wars today.' Harry suggested, putting some toothpaste on his toothbrush.

' Don't you think we're a bit old, to play snow wars?'

' Nah... So will you play or not?'

' Sure. We could ask Hermione to go with us. We haven't really hung out for weeks. You're always studying or you just go missing overnight and she spends all her time in the library. I miss the times we were together all the time.' Ron admitted.

' I actually don't study, Ron.'

'Hm?' Ron didn't really pay much attention. He was now concentrated on cleaning his teeth with floss.

' I'm dating someone.' Harry cleaned his mouth and went back to the dorm with Ron following.

' Really? '

' Yeah, but she wants to keep it a secret for now.'

'Harry I'm so happy for you!' Ron hugged his friend and Harry smiled. This is going to work!

'So what year is she? Do I know her?'

' I doubt that you do. She's a year younger than us and she's um...'

' Yeah?'

' Please don't laugh....'

' I won't laugh, are you crazy?' Ron puffed.

' Well, she's a Hufflepuff.'

Ron furrowed his eyebrows.

' Why would I laugh at that?'

Harry shrugged and they headed down to breakfast. They've both stuffed their plates with food because they knew they're going to need energy for snow wars that were coming up.

' So, you two slept well?' Hermione asked turning a page of Daily Prophet and taking a bite of her eggs.

Both boys nodded and continued to eat. Harry's eyes were looking into the plate but he could sense Draco's eyes on himself.

'Hermione, would you play snow wars with us?' Harry asked still ignoring Draco's gaze.

' Sure. I didn't have anything in plan for today and snow wars will be fun.'

On the other side of the table, Draco sighed and finally looked away of Gryffindor table.

' I can go and make him suffer for not looking at you.' Pansy leaned to him and snorted.

' No need. I don't mind his ignorance. '

' Yeah, right!' Pansy loudly said and took the jam from the table.

' I don't! It's not fun anymore, staring. Now when we're not enemies anymore it's just.... staring' he sighed.

' And what it was before? Eye fucking?' Blaise commented and made Pansy laugh.
