Chapter Six: Battle Worry

~A Week after~

Everyone was aboard the ship. A small place with various members of Overwatch. You could feel the tension in the air. It was silent and pained.

You were returning from a mission you weren't prepared for at all. No one saw it coming. Overwatch got word of an an sudden omnic attack on the border of a city. Alarms going off, lights flashing everywhere. It was utter chaos in the building.

Commander Morrison showed up during the panic and began to instruct everyone to get ready. You watched as all the recruits geared up and quickly leaving. What you weren't expecting was Morrison to point you out and demand for you to come.

"Me!? Are you sure, Commander?"

"We're all soldiers! We do this together!"

Following orders, you got ready and went out on departure. You hadn't seen Gabriel anywhere during any of this so you supposed he was already boarded and gone.

The mission was completed. You all had successfully defended against the omnic attack. It wasn't an easy battle. And you definitely left with some bruises and cuts.

Everyone was tired and sore. You were currently half way asleep on the ride back. Your sleep was soon interuppted by a voice catching your attention.

"(Y/N), I was surprised to see you in battle today," You turned your head to the cyborg ninja who was seated next to you.

You gave a tired smile."Wasn't expecting it myself either," you stretched your arms out in front of you in desperate need of a massage for your sore muscles."I saw you out there, Genji. You were very skillful with your sword."

Genji smirked underneath his mask."I have been practicing ever since I was young. You were deft in fighting as well."

You grinned."Thanks. I thought it went well for being in the field for the first time," you paused,"although, I'm really beat."

You rubbed your arm where a bruise was. You weren't even sure what got you there. You must have been been nicked without notice.

Genji noticed your discomfort when you rubbed your arm."Were you injured, (Y/N)?"

"Nothing serious. Just a bruise." You smiled at Genji's concern for you."You're okay, too, right?"

He nodded."I am."

Right after Genji spoke, the ship landed and the wide door slowly let down.

Everyone rose to their feet and took their time getting off the ship. As you stepped down you saw another ship also letting out more recruits. You supposed that's where Gabriel and Morrison were aboard.

You began to walk inside the base until you heard your name.

"(Y/N), are you alright? Do you need me to aid you at all?" Dr. Ziegler hurriedly rushed to you holding your arm and examining it.

You laughed lightly."I'm fine, doctor. Just some bruises. Nothing bad."

Dr. Ziegler sighed in relief."Let me at least tend to your swellings," she guided you back to her lab. All you wanted was to get some rest but you thought it was nice of Dr. Ziegler to help you.

What you didn't know was that Gabriel had just gotten off the other ship and watched you exit your ship. He face stiffened when he saw you. He wasn't pleased.

He was furious.

Gabriel turned around to look for Morrison. Clenching his teeth, he watched Morrison step out the carrier. He had to keep himself from choking him right then and there.
