Chapter Ten: Sorrow

Every part of your body was in pain. Arms were sore, back was aching, and it hurt to breathe as your chest rose and fell with agony.

You didn't really know what was going on or where you were but you knew you were laying down on a cold surface.

You tried your best to sit up straight. Your body screamed in pain as you did so.

Groggily, you sat up trying to focus your vision. It cleared up soon enough and you glared at your surroundings. This room you were in was very familiar. Trying to remember you rubbed your eyes and blinked a couple of times.

You were in Dr.Ziegler's lab.

"Hmm...," you hummed in annoyance confused about what is going on.

Then, you heard a electronic door slide open, revealing the blonde angel. She walked into the room looking down at some papers not noticing you were conscious.

She glanced up for a second then did a double take as she saw your posture and widen eyes.

"(Y/N)! Your awake! I-I can't believe it..." Dr.Ziegler rushed over to you examining your arms and face."This is absolutely amazing! It actually-." She cut herself off by clearing her throat.

A smile crept up to your lips as Dr.Ziegler praised your alertness."Yes, I'm fine. I'm very sore, though."

She chuckled,"That's perfectly normal considering what happened to you. I must say you are extremely lucky." A smile was played on her lips but something about it seemed a bit off.

You stared into the distance listening to Dr.Ziegler's sentence. Happened to me?

Then it hit you.

Explosions, smoke, blood. The entire HQ was destroyed. You were all alone with no one until...

Gabriel.

Panic rose within you. Shaking with fear, you were in shock. Everything was coming back to you in a flash.

Dr.Ziegler had a feeling something like this would happen so she quickly took action. She hushed you, speaking softly trying to calm you.

"It's alright. Your safe now." She whispered, her voice like silk.  She was a doctor so she had experiences with patients like this.

She gently brushed your arm making you shudder. Then you eventually felt like you had your mind together. You had a question that was worrying you, though.

"Dr.Ziegler," you began,"where is Gabriel?" You looked into her eyes hoping her face wouldn't distort into something that would clearly say what happened to him.

Dr.Ziegler looked around the room nervously."You see..." she paused, finally fixing her eyes into yours,"Gabriel is currently under some conditions."

"What is that supposed to mean?" You asked a bit frustrated,"Is he alive?"

She sighed."It's better to explain when you are more stable and relaxed." Walking over to you she helped you off the examination table."There are some clothes in the closet over there. Get dressed and walk around a bit to get your body moving. You've been out for about three days." She pointed to a closet across the room.

You nodded still confused about what she is talking about.

Proceeding to do as you were told, you slipped out your hospital gown and slipped into the clothes she provided you.

After you were done, you went back to her and asked about Gabriel again.

"What's going on with Gabriel?"
