Today was the day Gabriel and other members of Overwatch would depart to the Swiss Headquarters. You were still kind of upset over Gabe not telling you about this but you figured he had his reasons.
Currently, you were patiently waiting near the ship that everyone was boarding. You were hoping to see a certain someone so that you could say your goodbyes to them.
You watched all the countless passengers board the ship, your eyes still scanning for Gabriel. You had a slight feeling he had been avoiding you ever since he spoke to you on your graduation day. It made you worried that you might have done something to make him act like this. You weren't sure what it was, though.
Suddenly, you saw Gabriel hurriedly rushing through people to get on board. Luckily you were fast enough to make your way through and grab his hand, pulling him to the side.
Gabriel certainly wasn't expecting someone to grab him as he was walking. In fact, his first reaction was to almost punch whoever it was but when he saw your face he couldn't raise a fist.
He stared at you wide eyed for a minute before you spoke up."You didn't think I was going to let you leave without saying bye first, did you?"
Gabriel scratched the back of his neck looking to the side."How could I forget..." he mumbled.
Your stomach instantly dropped when you saw the look on his face. He seem almost... sad.
Your worry grew as you slowly reached for the side of his face, cupping it with one hand."Gabriel, tell me what's wrong. Please?"
He hesitantly brought his gaze to meet yours. The feeling of your hand on his cheek made him feel at ease."Don't worry about me, (Y/N). I'm completely fine. I'm just...tired." He gave you a light hearted smile at the end of his sentence to relax you a bit.
You sighed."Alright, if you say so." You didn't completely believe him but he probably would never give in.
You and Gabriel were still hanging off to the side as Commander Morrison walked by."Reyes, get on move on, let's go." He motioned with his hand towards the ship.
Gabriel of course, growled, about to retort back at him but you interuppted."Can you give us like one more minute, sir?" You asked politely.
Morrison rolled his eyes."You got exactly one minute before I want you on that ship, Reyes." He said leaving the two of you.
Not wanting to get Gabriel in trouble, you quickly wrapped your arms around his neck giving him his goodbye hug."Not sure why your going there in the first place but whatever it is, be careful, okay?"
Gabriel, shocked at the your sudden action, slowly returned the hug."No problem, (Y/N)."
After staying in each others arms for a moment, you let go knowing it was time for him to go. You said one last goodbye as he began to walk away. He looked back and gave you a wave as you did the same.
Soon enough the ship went flying off into the distance. You watched it depart already missing Gabriel. It didn't help that he has been acting weird lately making your worry consistent.
You were about to head back to your dorm when a familiarity voice called your name.
"(Y/N)!" The blonde scientist/doctor was running towards you with full speed. If she tripped she would surely get hurt.
"Dr. Ziegler? Why are you in such a hurry?" You asked stopping the doc in her place almost catching her from running so fast.
"I think I've got it," She paused to catch her breath,"I might have found the solution to my experiment!"
