Chapter 5: A Show Off And A Reaper

Flame P.O.V

As I was helping Wendy and Peter with the trapeze, All the understudies started flowing into the circus tent... Including those girls.

"Wendy, Peter, we should stop practicing now so that the understudies can practice. We can do more later though!" I said as I started climbing down the ladder, Wendy and Peter following shortly after.

As we got off, we got our towels and drink bottles, drinking the water and wiping sweat from our bodies. We walked to the side as I saw Dagger enter the tent. I looked at him curiously and tilted my head, cocking an eyebrow.

'Why is Dagger here? He never practices with the understudies' I thought until I saw two people behind him that cleared my curiousness. Black and Smile. When Wendy and Peter left the tent, I chose to stay behind and sit near the outer ring of the tent, my towel draped across my shoulders. I took another drink of my water bottle and watched as Black and Smile started to stretch. The fan-club started to swarm around Sebastian again. I rolled my eyes and leaned back on a wooden crate behind me. Dagger shooed the fan-club which made me chuckle.

For some odd reason, Black and Smile walked to their own private area and began to stretch, talking about an unknown topic... They seemed pretty serious about it though. I tilted my head in confusion but shook it off and snuck up behind Dagger. He was explaining the basics of knife throwing to a few understudies until I jumped on his back and hugged him.

"Boo!" I said as he screamed and jumped, almost falling forward. I laughed and stood back on the ground but I was still hugging him. He turned around and I let go off him. He lightly punched my arm while his other arm was on his heart and he was breathing heavily.

"Flame! What have I told you about doing that?! You scared the living daylights out of me!" He said while I giggled and skipped off to my original place.

"You know you love me~" I cooed and sat back down. I saw him face palm for a bit until he made his way to Sebastian and Finny. I chuckled again and rested my head in my knees, yawning and tapping my fingers against my shins.

I saw Black and Smile make there way over to the middle of the tent with Dagger leading them. I then saw them talking before I think I heard Dagger say something like 'Oh yeah that's right, you're a born natural. Go on then and try whatever you think you can manage and I'll observe.' As Dagger said this, Sebastian ran off towards the trapeze and grabbed it from the standing station and started swinging from it. He then swung himself around and stood on the bar. My eyes widened as did everybody else's. He then hung upside down, his feet hooking around the bar.

'Be careful idiot!' I thought as I watched him, worry playing on my face. Sebastian then did a few flips in the air before grabbing the pole one-handed and swinging to the standing station. I sighed in relief. Suddenly, Sebastian was at the juggling clubs. He started juggling ten at the same time! I was dumbfounded.

'How? I thought I was the best at juggling! Well, at least now I finally have some competition' I thought as I smirked and continued watching Sebastian. After this, he climbed up the poles and started swinging around them. Almost instantly after that, he started doing front flips through the rings of fire. I shook my head, not believing what I was seeing.

After the rings of fire, he started doing some aerial acrobatics. As he swung on the wire, he looked down and saw me looking up at him. My face showing pure shock. He smirked and leaned down, gently caressing my face as he continued swinging. I started blushing and laid down. After a few more acts, Dagger told Sebastian to stop. Almost instantly after this, almost all the understudies swarmed him. Complementing him and praising him.

Because there wasn't much action going on, I yawned again and got into a comfortable position trying my hardest to stay awake but to my displeasure, my eyes closed and I fell asleep on the circus tent floor.

Sebastian P.O.V

As I was getting praised by the other performers and had two girls from my 'fan-club' as Flame calls them, clinging onto both of my arms, I tried to shake them off but they wouldn't budge. I sighed, irritated. Dagger then brought up something about another star performer. I was curious on who this person was until Dagger pointed up towards the tightrope. Young master and I looked up to where he was pointing and I narrowed my eyes.

'William T' Spears' I thought as I gritted my teeth.

"One of the reapers" I mumbled with distain in my voice. William then looked down at me. He tried to strike me with his death scythe but I simply moved out of the way. As William and I were bickering, Ciel was getting anxious as he thought everyone was going to find out what I was. Dagger then walked over to William and bopped him on the head a few times taking it all as a joke.

Dagger then chose to introduce Ciel and I to the newly named, Suit. William and I were glaring daggers at each other until William walked away, adjusting his glasses.

'It's unusual for a reaper to go undercover like this, but this means one thing. Somethings going on in this circus, something deadly' I thought as I watched William walk away.

As most of the performers cleared out, I looked over to my left and saw a girl laying on the ground, supposedly asleep. The young master walked out of the tent and with this I walked closer to the girl.

'It's Flame... What is she doing here? I thought she left the tent ages ago' I thought as I brushed a few hairs out of her face. Carefully, I picked her up bridal style and held her in my arms protectively. As I walked out of the circus tent, she stirred but soon got comfortable as she nuzzled her head into my chest and mumbled incoherent words. I smiled at her and continued walking to someone that would know where her tent was. I spotted Joker in the distance and walked up to him. He looked at me and then looked at Flame. His eyes showing confusion.

"Excuse me, would you please tell me where Miss Flame's tent is? She fell asleep in the tent and I decided not to wake her." I said as Flame started to stir again.

"Aye... Her tent is the second one as you walk in the first-tier tents. Make sure ya quick though. The area is off-limits after all." Joker said. Obviously unsure about the situation.

"Thank you" I said and smiled, walking off with Flame still in my arms. As well as her head, she rested her left hand on my chest as well. I blushed slightly, continuing to walk towards her tent.

'It's weird how this girl makes me feel... I've never.. Felt this feeling before. What is it about her?' I asked myself. I shook my head and just decided to enjoy this time with her. I approached her tent and opened the curtains. Her tent was relatively clean though there were a few items of clothing that... I probably shouldn't have seen. I decided to be mature and dismiss those thoughts out of my head. I approached her bed and pulled back the covers, gently putting her on the bed. She shuffled around and her eyelids fluttered open.

"S-Sebastian.." She whispered groggily. I chuckled at this and stroked her hair gently.

"Shh, sleep now, it's okay." I told her. She smiled and yawned again. Just as I was about to get up and leave, she grabbed the sleeve of my tail-coat and whispered softly. I could barely hear her tiny voice.

"Stay with me? Only for a little while. Until I fall asleep?" She asked, looking up at me with adorable eyes. I smiled and sat on the edge of her bed next to her.

"As you wish." I said, stroking her hair with one of my hands. Suddenly, she grabbed my other hand with hers and held it. I intwined our fingers together and did something I never thought I would do. When I made sure she was asleep, I leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. She smiled in her sleep and I stood up, slowly letting go of her hand so I wouldn't wake her. I studied her features for a while.

"Beautiful..." I whispered. Shocked by my own words, I slapped myself mentally and started making my way out of her tent. I smiled a genuine smile as I was walking back. That soon faded though as I saw a certain four-eyed reaper.
