Chapter 24 : A Ball And A Beautiful Woman

Flame P.O.V

I woke up the next morning with Sebastian playing with my hair. I smiled as I pecked his cheek, him smiling slightly.

"Good morning." Sebastian said as he caressed my cheek. I blushed and yawned, stretching.

"Good morning~" I cooed as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, my nightgown flowing as I started walking to my wardrobe, Sebastian standing up after me. I opened my wardrobe and pulled out one of my dresses, turning around to see Sebastian pulling his tail coat on.

"Sebastian, what time is the ball tonight?" I asked as I laid the dress over my shoulder. He adjusted his tie as he looked at his pocket watch.

"It shall be starting at six o'clock tonight." He said as he looked up up at me and brushed his hair out of his face. I smiled and nodded, as I walked up to him and pecked his cheek before making my way into the bathroom to get ready for the day.

TIMESKIP

While doing the washing up after the young Masters lunch, Mey-Rin clumsily made her way through the door, pushing up her glasses as she shuffled her feet and looked down.

"Mey-Rin? Whats wrong?" I asked as I turned around and wiped my hands. She looked up at me with a small blush on her cheeks as her hand went up to scratch her neck.

"Miss Flame, I was wondering if you would help me style my hair for tonight as I would like to look nice." She said sheepishly as she smiled nervously.

"Of course! I'll put away these dishes and I'll be at your room shortly." I said as she smiled at her and she nodded and ran to her room. I giggled and shook my head as I put the ceramics into their rightful places.

After placing the last plate on the shelf, I brushed off my dress and turned around, adjusting my sleeves and smoothing out my hair, walking out the door. I cracked my neck and headed to Mey-Rins room, knocking on the door.

"Mey-Rin? I'm here to help you." I said as I put my arms behind my back. I heard scurrying as the door opened to reveal Mey-Rin, makeup a mess and hair like a bird nest.

"Miss Flame! I tried to do my own hair and makeup but it failed!" She wailed as she sat at her desk.

"Oh Mey-Rin, let's clean you up and get you ready for tonight." I sighed as I made my way over to her and smiled. She sniffled as she nodded. I put her hair in a messy bun as I turned her around and inspected her face while my head was tilted. My hands went to take her glasses off as her hands went up and she stood up from her seat.

"Oh no Miss! Please don't take off my glasses! The young master gave them to me!" She panicked as she held her glasses to her face.

"Whoa whoa! Calm down Mey-Rin! I need to take them off to do your eye makeup but then you can put them back on." I said as I laughed and she slowly calmed down and nodded as I started to do her makeup and hair.

TIMESKIP

I stared in shock as I looked at my handiwork. Mey-Rin looked at me with a light blush on her cheeks. Her hazel eyes made to look bigger with the fake eyelashes and the dark eye makeup. Her lips were an elegant shade of pink as the contour accentuated her cheek bones. I smiled as I slid her glasses on her face which gave her an adorable look. Her hair was up in two pig tails with her bangs framing her face.

"All done. You look absolutely stunning." I said as I turned her back to the mirror. She squealed as she shot up from her chair and closely inspected her face.

"Th-that's me?! Oh thank you so much Flame! I feel beautiful!" She said as she smiled wide at me. I smiled back and hugged her lightly.

"It's no problem! I'll see you in the ballroom soon, I need to do my own hair and makeup." I said as I chuckled and left the room, heading to my own. I opened my door and sat at my dresser, starting to do my makeup, an elegant look but not too much. I styled my hair in a simple bun with a few strands of hair shaping my face as I changed into a knee-length version of my uniform. I checked the time as it read '5:30 pm', sighing and making my way into the ballroom as I saw Ciel already standing at the bottom of the stairs, talking with Sebastian.

Soon enough, guests started arriving at the door as Sebastian read off names and led them to the ballroom. After everyone had arrived, it read '6:30 pm' on the clock. I had just finished talking with Finny and Bardroy as I walked into the kitchen and leaned on the bench, taking a breath and closing my eyes.

"What is a pretty lady like you doing lingering in the kitchen instead of at the ball?" I heard as I opened my eyes and saw Sebastian leaning on the doorframe while he was smirking. I smiled as he came over and pecked my lips before brushing the hair out of my face.

"I'm just taking a breather. It's weird being around so many people." I said as I turned around and picked up a tray that had glasses of champagne on it.

"But I guess I'll go make myself useful." I giggled as I pecked his cheek and walked out the door back to the ballroom. I circled the room giving wine glasses to people as I came across a woman with her back turned. I tapped her lightly on the shoulder as she turned around.

"Excuse me miss, would you like a glass on champagne..?" I trailed off as she turned around and smiled at me. The woman looked middle-aged and had brown hair and emerald green eyes as she smiled warmly at me. She took a glass as she started to talk.

"Why thank you. I assume you are a maid of this exquisite estate?" She asked as I broke out of my trance and smiled back at her.

"Yes I am. My name is (Y/N) but most people that know me call me Flame." I informed her as I bowed slightly.

"Y/N... A lovely name for a lovely girl." She said as she had a look of sadness in her eyes.

"Can I ask for your name miss?" I asked as she nodded and took another sip of her beverage.

"My name is Elise. It's very nice to meet you." Her smooth voice spoke held out her hand. I smiled and shook her hand as I felt an arm snake around my waist. My hand broke away from hers as I looked to my side and saw Sebastian.

"Oh! What are you doing Sebas-" I stopped as I noticed him sniffing the air and a glare that he had shortly before it turned into a fake smile as he looked at Elise. I felt awkward as I looked towards Elise and saw her smiling back at him, the tension between the two growing.

"I-I'll introduce you two. Elise, this is Sebastian, head butler of the Phantomhive manor. Sebastian, this is Elise, I have just met her tonight." I said as Sebastian tightened his grip around me and pulled me closer to him.

"It's very nice to meet you madam. I hope you enjoy your time here at the manor." Sebastian said politely as he bowed, putting a hand to his heart. Elise glanced at his hand around my waist and looked back at him.

"Nice to meet you as well Sebastian." She replied as she brushed some hair out of her face.

"If you will excuse me, I need to use the restroom." She said as she looked at me once more and smiled a genuine smile as she walked off to the restroom. I smiled back and turned to Sebastian who had relaxed his grip on my waist as I looked at him with a confused face.

"What was that look at her for Sebastian?" I asked, tilting my head as I rested a hand on his shoulder. He shook his head and looked at me with a small smile.

"It's nothing my love, it's just me being protective." He said as I blushed lightly at his comment and nodded. He grabbed my hand and led me to the kitchen as I placed the empty tray down on the bench. I saw Sebastian adjusting his gloves as he sighed. I then heard someone playing violin from the ballroom.

"It's one of my favourites! Bach Chaconne." I said as I smiled. Sebastian made his way over to me and held out a hand.

"Well then, would you care for a dance madam?"
