Chapter 19: What Is This?

Flame P.O.V

As Ciel asked me the question, the atmosphere in the room suddenly changed to a cold and sad one. I nodded my head and looked down at my lap, my hair covering my face.

"Well, when we were really young, Jumbo and I lived in a household consisting of my mother and father, Jumbo and I. Soon after, our father passed away due to an illness and as we were poor, we couldn't afford medication for him. Our mother became more harsh towards Jumbo and I. Because Jumbo grew larger than he should have, mother would abuse him and I would hide seeing as I was a very frail child. One night when mother was about to hit Jumbo, I was sick of it and stepped in. She had slashed my left eye but fortunately it wasn't deep enough to cause lasting wounds besides this scar." With this, I moved my fringe away from my eye for Ciel to have a better look at my scar.

"That night, Jumbo and I packed up what little we had and when mother was asleep we ran away. We had lived in a small household just outside of London. We ran into the city and tried to find somewhere to stay warm as it was raining. Soon, we came across a few people huddled under a big blanket. That was the day we met Joker, Beast, Doll, Dagger, Peter and Wendy." I smiled slightly as I recalled the memories of meeting them. Taking a deep breath, I continued the story.

"A few years later, Baron Kelvin came up to us and brought us in. He took us to the workhouse and we grew up there. We lived a much happier life back then. One day, all of us were sitting and eating dinner when we came up with the idea of Noah's Ark Circus! Though, I guess that is all gone now.." I sighed and shook my head, looking at Ciel with a smile.

"And basically, that's all of my backstory. Is there anything else you would like to know master?" He shook his head and leaned his head on his hand.

"No, that is all. Though I do want you to go and see if the other servants need help with anything. Sebastian, I want cake. I have too much paperwork to do on an empty stomach." He stated. I stood up and Sebastian and I bowed at the same time.

"Yes my Lord/Yes young Master." Sebastian and I said at the same time. We stood up straight and Sebastian opened the door for me. I walked past him making sure to sway my hips slightly as I smirked. Soon, I heard Sebastian walk out and close the door behind him.

Soon after I started walking down the corridor, I felt two strong arms wrap around me. I squeaked in surprise and giggled, knowing full well that it was Sebastian.

"Don't do that Flame. You tease me too much and the beast inside me might just be let out." Sebastian whispered into my ear. I blushed a crimson colour and turned around, kissing his cheek.

"Well the beast will have to wait. We have duties to attend to." I said, flipping my hair sassily and walking off towards the kitchen. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Sebastian there with a look of shock mixed in with mischief playing on his face.

I made my way towards the garden to possibly help Finny with the gardening. On my way there, I passed a few rooms, peeking in some of them because of my curious nature.

'Wow... This place is so fancy! The golden linings on the door frames, the beautiful paintings hung up on the wall, the delicate rose scent that follows me throughout the manor. I love it here! I hope the troop is okay...' As I was lost in thought, I hung my head, continuing to walk towards the garden. While worrying thoughts ran through my head, I bumped into someone.

"Oh! I'm so sorry! I was lost in thought.." I spoke, bowing my head without looking at who was there.

"Flame! Don't bow your head like that to me! It's okay!" I raised my head to see Finny standing in front of me. He smiled widely and waved.
