After about two hours of playing, Sander was wiped out. Tiffany decided to turn on one of his favorite movies in the living room, made popcorn, and turned out the lights. They both sat on the couch, bowl of popcorn sitting in Sander's lap as he munched away watching the colors dance on the screen.
"Hey, Tiffany. Can I ask you something?" Sander asked. "Of course, go ahead." Smiled Tiffany.
"Can I lay on your lap?" Sander hopefully asked. She chuckled," You're lucky that you're like a little brother to me or this would be a no." Sander confused asks," So I can?" Tiffany just nodded and smiled.
Sander sets down the bowl of popcorn on the floor and rests his head in her lap. About 15 minutes after laying down he fell asleep. Tiffany watched as he breathed calmly, her hand on his back. She rubbed back and forth fore she knew he enjoyed back rubs. She slowly too became sleepy and fell into slumber.
At midnight the couple came back into the house, slightly tipsy from the night out. Mr. Anderson walked upstairs to get into bed and Mrs. Anderson came into the living room to pay Tiffany and tell her she could go home. She walked into the living room about to speak but stopped herself when she saw the two sleeping on the couch. She smiled and whispered to herself, "We really did choose the right sitter for him." But Sander needed to be put in bed, so she had to wake them.
Mrs. Anderson slightly shook Tiffany awake and whispered, "You can spend the night if you wish but I just wanted to let you know that we're home and you are free to go."
Tiffany took a sharp inhale through her nose and yawned, "Jeez, I didn't mean to fall asleep, but this boy is like melatonin. Play hard, sleep hard." Tiffany picked up Sander and turned to the mother, "I think I'll head back to my place and I'll get Sander in bed. Go ahead and just set my payment on the table and get some rest. I'll grab it on my way out."
Mrs. Anderson smiled, "Thank you for your help tonight and drive home safe."
They both start walking towards the stairs and Tiffany replies, "It's really no problem, I enjoy spending time with Sander. And trust me, safe as possible."
Mrs. Anderson and Tiffany branch off at the steps, Mrs. Anderson going to the kitchen and Tiffany carrying Sander to his room. Mrs. Anderson sets down the money on the table and walks upstairs to her room where her husband is already asleep with the lights on. Tiffany sets Sander in his bed, pulls the blanket over him and tucks him in. She looks as he happily sleeps and wonders what he dreams about. Wonders what the innocent dream about. She touches her fingers to the neck and feels his pulse.
Bum Bum.
Bum Bum.
Heart is beating. So much life to live. So much money awaiting him. So much innocence. She removes her fingers and kisses him on the forehead. "Goodnight Sander," She whispers. Tiffany stands up and leaves the room, closing the door behind her. "And I'm sorry."
