Water has filled my lungs, I can't breathe. My vision, black. The ground beneath me, cold and damp. I start coughing, what feels like gallons of water start spewing out, I feel like I'm drowning all over again. I don't know where I am anymore. My parents, turned water demons known as the fomori I assume. Jackson, whereabouts unknown. How could I have been so stupid? Mom and dad are never home before six thirty and it was only six fifteen. They wouldn't ruin my schedule like that without informing me first. Unless they're Celtic water demons, I remind myself. But if they're fomori now, or always have been what caused it? I know I believe in magick but not like that, that's supposed to stay on the big screen and Hollywood so I can complain about how it's wrong. I hear a door open, high heels click against the hard ground. A woman sighs, "So you're the boy my son fell for?" What? Oh. Fuck. This was Jackson's mother, she'd been sent to prison on abuse and molestation charges after Jackson and Aleksandr were forced to move in with her after being kicked out of Catholic school. Legally speaking they should have gone to their father after her arrest but since he abandoned them soon after Jackson had been born they were placed in foster care.
"I know you're awake Sammy, your breathing changed when you realized who I was." I bolted straight up, my vision slightly black from moving too fast. "Listen bitch only Jackson can call me Sammy and that's only when we're doing certain PRIVATE matters." She stepped back looking shocked by my outburst but recovered almost immediately. A smile spread across her blood-red lips, she takes a step closer before the door opens again. A man with green hair runs in with a panicked look in his eyes, "Ma'am we have a slight problem." He speaks while gazing at the floor as if he's terrified of what Jackson's mom will do to him once she hears the news. "The wolf is out." He takes a small step back in what I assume is fear, instead he gets this response from her. "I'm quite aware of that, I felt it when the seal was broken, that's why I told the Fomori to kidnap this little shit instead of just killing him like planned." She pauses and pulls a phone from her pocket, she looks at me for a moment before asking the most ridiculous question I've heard all day, "Who is your cell provider? I can't get a single bar down here with Sprint but here you are getting a call from Jackson." She answers the call, "Hey baby, sorry I had to leave before we could have fun, but there'd been a change of plan." She jerks the phone away from her ear and I can hear Jackson on the other end even from the distance between she and I.
She ends the call without another word, "I swear the mouth on that boy, he must get it from his father." She glances at me, as if just realizing I was on the floor then realization practically floods through her eyes. "You know Jackson never met his father right? He abandoned you once you gave birth to Jackson. The boys went to a foster family once the state declared you unfit to take care of them, given account of that psychotic break you had." I spit some of the leftover water out and glare at her.
"Why is it whenever you speak Sammy you always go into too much detail and backstory? Really now it's like you're a character in a book or something and the author is just using you to give some backstory on me." She laughs and helps me up, "Anyways, we just need to keep you captive until Aleksandr finds you." She looks at my hand she's still holding from helping me up and quickly lets go, looking disgusted at herself.
"How could Aleksandr find me here? Where is here even." I try to see something around that would tell me, but the walls are just smooth, damp, and black rock with the only distinguishing feature in the room being the door. For some reason the door was a bright yellow color, it really clashed with the feel of the room honestly. The phone starts buzzing again, her stupid smirk reappears and as she answers it.
"Well if it isn't the man of the hour, my little Aleksandr." The blood drains from her face and suddenly she's more pale than I am, I can't hear what Aleks is saying but clearly it's more threatening that Jackson's screaming. Suddenly the room fills with the scent of melting plastic, the phone starts to smoke. She throws the phone and it shatters against the far wall, nothing more than a bubbling and smoking shell of what it once was. "What the fuck did you do to my phone bitch!?" I run towards her but before I can even get close to her the green haired guy slams into me sending me sprawling. The pain spread through my chest and I swear he broke a rib or two, air escapes me once again, I try to glare up at her but my view is blocked by him.
"Listen kid, you don't stand a chance against her, I just saved your life." He glances back at her, she hasn't moved since she threw the phone, still as pale as a ghost. "We must leave this place." She barely whispers, then she turns and leaves through the yellow door. The man stands and follows her, clearly confused. I get up, my chest feels like I'm being stabbed and it hurts to breathe. I follow them through the door but once I'm through I don't see them anymore, I'm in a forest. I turn, the door is gone, Well that's not cliche or anything. I suddenly feel like I'm being watched, I look around but see nothing suspicious. What the actual fuck just happened to me?
