Long ago, all the Regions lived in peace. They traded Pokemon, food and natural resources to one another. Trainers and Pokemon lived in harmony with one another, and they were friends and allies for all their lives. Everything was calm, peaceful and prosperous.
However, in the midst of these wonderful times, a malevolent being stirred in a different dimension. It was the dreaded Giratina, master of darkness and death. He was awakening from his slumber in the Distortion world, and he wanted revenge on his father, Arceus, for sealing him away.
To exact hs revenge, Giratina used all his power to tear a hole between the Distortion World and the Mortal World. The hole was too small for Giratina to fit through, so Giratina used all his dark energy to create a Orb of Shadows, and he shot this Orb into the Mortal World.
The Orb began its descent to Earth. In its wrath, it destroyed Towns, Cities and Villages. It dried up whole Oeans, turned Mountains to Dust, and caused endless storms to occur in the skies.
Only one man, a trainer named Alpha, was able to stop this Orb of Shadows. Using his partner Pokemon, Dragonite, he attempted to send the Orb back to Distortion World. But he did not have enough Power. Knowing he needed more power, he travelled to the distant Kalypsa Region - a Region far away from all the others - and consulted the Elders of Kalypsa about this terrible Orb. The Elders gave him a legendary artifact, said to have been given to Humans and Pokemons at the Dawn of Time. It was called the Broken Star - because it was said to be a Star that had fallen straight from the night sky. Whoever had the Broken Star was bestowed with unmatchable skills as a Pokemon Trainer.
Alpha, with the Broken Star, stood in the way of the Orb of Shadows, and using his Dragonite and the Broken Star, he sent the orb back to the Distortion World.
After that, Alpha and the Broken Star dissapeared. People looked all over the Earth to find him and that legendary artifact, but they had both completely vanished. Nowadays, people still look for the Broken Star to harness it's power, but it must of been hidden by Alpha somewhere no-one would ever look, because if it fell into the wrong hands, the whole world would be in danger...
