He still had the same nightmares. Every night. It always went the same.
He would, every night, be inside the mansion with Raven, fighting assassins, until it burned down.
I am Robin, he kept telling himself. Son of Batman. I don't need to let these things get to me.
In fact, the whole team seemed affected. They all seemed... quieter. Even, very surprisingly, Jaime and Garfield.
Damian wished his father would return, though for days, weeks, it seemed, his wishing was put to an end.Damian had just woken up, and, unusually in these times, heard noises from the training room.
He walked down there, ready for anything; nobody but him was ever up this early.
With his sword drawn, entering the training room, it wasn't intruders he heard.
It was Raven.
"Hey," Damian said quietly, causing Raven to stop her training for a second. "Look out!"
As soon as she stopped, a holographic soldier had its sword
raised, ready to strike. Luckily, Damian had good reflexes, so he quickly threw a batarang at it, causing it to vanish.
She raised her hand slightly, it glowing purple. She used her magic to shut off the training device.
"I figured you'd be up by now," she told him. "I have good news, and wanted to tell you first thing in the morning."
Damian smiled slightly. "What is it?" he asked.
She smiled back.
"Your dad's coming.""You know, Dick," said Bruce, being driven to Titan's Tower, "I'm sure I could've managed a drive from the hospital to the Tower."
Dick looked at him. "Ha ha," he said. "In your condition, you shouldn't be driving at all...anywhere. I don't care
if— never mind."
Bruce was glaring at him.
Eventually, he moved his gaze outside his side of the window.
"What is that?" he asked, seeing something above the water. It was heading for the Tower.
Dick stopped the car. "Don't know," he said. "But we better warn them."The Titans were partying over their recent second victory over Trigon.
What they didn't see was right outside the Tower, coming straight at them.
It was a teenage girl, standing on a rock, with was hovering over the water, heading straight for the Titans.
On the inside, the Titans, still partying away, didn't notice anything. At least, not until Raven did.
They were all enjoying themselves, except, of course, Damian, who was sulking in a dark corner. He may have been out and more comfortable around people, but still liked being alone.
And he was, until Raven walked over to him.
"Why aren't you out with everyone," she asked him. He was about to answer, but she held up her finger.
"Don't say you don't like being around people," she told him. "We all saw you dance a couple weeks ago, remember. You can't be that uncomfortable."
Damian stared at her for a while, then looked down.
"I—." He didn't know what to say. He seemed to never know exactly what to say around Raven.
What she didn't see, was him quietly slipping something into his utility belt, hiding it from sight.
"It's not that I'm uncomfortable," he said. "I still want to find the ones that burnt my father's mansion. Our mansion."
She seemed to understand. At noticing that, Damian thought, Well, that's a relief.
She opened her mouth to say something, but Damian silenced her, noticing strange silence surrounding them.
Slowly, Kori walked up to them. "Get ready," she said. "We've spotted signs of possible danger heading our way.
Damian and Raven both nodded, Damian running away to get his suit.
Turns out, it wasn't danger. It was just Bruce and Dick.
Then they told about the danger.
"Get my suit from the car," Bruce told Dick.
"But—" he tried to say, but Bruce stopped him.
"Just do it."
Dick nodded and ran back to the car. When he came back in, he was also holding his Nightwing suit.
"Looks like it's time for Batman to get back into action," said Bruce, getting his suit on.
Just as they got ready, they all heard a knock.
It was time to fight.
