When Dr. Benzedrine walked through the door to his house, he noticed that his answering machine was continually beeping. "Oh no! I forgot about Gin!"

Quickly, he dialed her number and waited for her to answer. Gin picked up the phone with an, "It's about time!"

"Gin... I'm so sorry! I went for a walk in the woods and got distracted, and--"

"Say no more. So... Can I be your assistant?"

"Absolutely! I could really use the extra help."

"I'm on my way, Stacy. Oh... Would it be OK if I brought my friend? He needs a little bit of help..."

"Sure! What does he need help with?"

"Well... He wants to be luckier so that he can feel better about himself. He has low self- esteem, probably because his name is Horseshoe Crab..."

"Well... I suppose I could try. The last formula I made really had an effect on the person I gave it to."

Gin was confused. "Wait... What do you mean?"

"When I went for my morning walk, I met a being known as the Sandman. He taught me how to create an ability enhancer. He-"

"Oh, I know Sandman... He has an assistant who I went to school with as a kid. That is, until she... Never mind. Anyway, I'll be right over."

Dr. Benzedrine began preparing the lab by gathering ingredients, clipping a fresh batch of yellow flowers, and cleaning up the yellow formula that he had been working on at Cellophane by sealing it in a large crate. Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

"Coming!" He ran to the door and opened it.

Gin was standing there, along with her friend Horseshoe. Horseshoe was taller than Dr. Benzedrine, and he had a huge head of brown, curly, long hair.

Horseshoe turned to Gin and whispered, "I expected him to be taller."

"Horseshoe!"

"Sorry..."

Dr. Benzedrine invited them both in, and prepared a batch of his brand-new luck formula, following the instructions in the Historia to a T (although he also added some of his special flowers).

"You have a pretty interesting name, Horseshoe Crab. I think that it suits you."

"You really think so? Personally, I don't really like it that much..."

"Really! I think that it's a cool name. You know, one time my dad caught me a horseshoe crab. Heh, then I asked him if throwing it back into the sea would bring our luck back. Oh, I think the formula's ready."

Dr. Benzedrine gave Horseshoe Crab a glass of a red-tinted liquid. "Drink up. This should make you luckier. I'm sorry if the taste isn't as tolerable as it should be..."

Horseshoe took a few sips, then dropped the glass. "Ugh! What is this? Dandelion tea?!?"

Suddenly, Horseshoe looked around, then started walking forward, towards the door to the backyard. He would've walked straight into the door if Dr. Benzedrine hadn't opened it. When Dr. Benzedrine opened the door, he saw Sandman in his backyard setting up instruments.

"Sandman?!? What are you doing here? Why are there instruments?"

"Shh... Watch..."

As Horseshoe wandered over to the electric guitar and began to play, Gin turned Dr. Benzedrine to the side and asked, "What did you put in the formula?"

"Well, I added the red powder that Sandman gave me, some warm water, clippings from the yellow flowers, nutmeg--"

"Wait... Those yellow flowers were the same ones you put in your other formula, right?"

Dr. Benzedrine realized that the yellow flowers were causing hallucinations, and immediately added a page to the Historia detailing their effects. Horseshoe snapped out of his trance and turned around to face Gin.

"Wow... I did not expect that potion to teleport me to a red room and change the clothes I was wearing! Oh, hello Sandman. What are you doing here?"

"Wait... You two know each other?" "Of course we do! In fact, he was the one who recommended Gin to me in the first place! I happen to...uh...know him from...places... I am so glad you gave me that amazing formula. Then again, I don't think--"

"OK, you can stop talking now," Sandman interrupted. "My past is not important right now. Anyway, Red, you can play electric guitar? You never told me that! I can play bass!"

As they began to talk about their lives, Dr. Benzedrine began to talk to Gin about what he wanted to do next.

"So, Gin... I need your help with a lot of things, but the one thing on my mind right now are these unfinished blueprints for weather-controlling gloves. Could you go to the store and get some liquid nitrogen? It's kind of necessary..."

"Say no more. I'll go get you some! If I see anything else that you could use, I'll get that too."
