Scene 8: Dr. Benzedrine's House

The next morning, Dr. Benzedrine was busy testing the weather controlling gloves in the one room of his house that he could adjust the humidity of: his bathroom. He had left the shower, put on clothes, and brushed his hair all without leaving the humid room. After all, he couldn't leave until the gloves were tested. As he powered up the gloves, he felt a cold, tingling sensation spread from his palms to his fingertips. He waved his hand through the air, and lo and behold, a cloud started to form around his hand. Surprised, he shook his hand and the cloud got bigger. Slowly, he pulled his fingers out of the cloud, causing it to float through the air on its own.

As the cloud began to drift through the air, Dr. Benzedrine decided to experiment a little bit. He created three more small clouds, then slowly combined them. The larger cloud that resulted was darker in color, and contained several tiny sparks of electricity. He blew the cloud towards the door, then let it float through. The cloud was picked up by a gust of air from the window that Dr. Benzedrine had forgotten to close the night before, and flew towards the refrigerator. The cold air surrounding the refrigerator made the cloud begin to rain. Dr. Benzedrine grabbed a bowl and placed it directly under the cloud, letting the rain collect inside. Suddenly, a tiny bolt of lightning struck the water in the wooden bowl, causing it to become electrified. Quickly, Dr. Benzedrine disposed of the dangerous water, then focused his attention back on the cloud.

The cloud (after raining) became much more white and fluffy, and it seemed as though it wanted to fly away and join the other clouds. Dr. Benzedrine took pity on the little cloud, and let it fly through the open door. As it floated away, the door to Normal Land opened. Two kids stepped through it, a boy and a girl, and they looked around, surprised.

Dr. Benzedrine ran over to the door, and pulled them with him. "Hurry! You don't want to be caught by the Photographer and his Paparazzi!"

The kids were confused, but they followed Dr. Benzedrine anyway. They made it back to the house, and Dr. Benzedrine closed the door.

"What are you two doing here? You could've been caught and pushed into the moat around Town Hall! What were you thinking?" The boy responded with, "We're sorry, we didn't know where we were going, and we had no idea that we could come here... What do those gloves do?"

Dr. Benzedrine pulled down the windows' blackout curtains, and turned on the lights.

"These gloves have the power to control the weather. Here, do you want to try them out?"

The boy turned to his sister and asked her, "Do you want to go first?" "Sure bro, I'll try them first. Hey... whatever your name is... Do these have a snow setting?"

Dr. Benzedrine face palmed.

"Oh, how silly of me. I never told you two my name. I'm Dr. Benzedrine. Nice to meet you! Heh, and they do have a snow setting." "Hey, Doc! I'm---" The brother interrupted, saying, "Are you sure we should tell him our real names?" "Yeah, we should use our other ones." "Sorry about my sister, Doc. We're the Twin Skeletons. I'm Honeymoon Halen, and she's... She's the Peroxide Princess. Nice to meet you!" "Nice to meet you, Honeymoon-- Wait... Princess, how did you do that?"

The Peroxide Princess had begun to create hail with the gloves.

"Oh, I accidentally put them on the rain setting. When I switched them to snow, they started to hail!"

"Thank you! I was wondering how I could get them to do that..." "No problemo! I was wondering though... Who's the Photographer?" "Oh, you don't want to run into him. He and his Paparazzi take pictures with cameras that have such a strong flash that they'll make you extremely dizzy. Then, he'll lead you to Town Hall, and you will fall into the moat. Once you've done that, you will never be able to leave. And I'm sure that you have parents at home who don't want you to be stuck here. Anyway, if you get into a house with blackout curtains, you're safe from his onslaught."

Honeymoon gave him a hug and said, "Thank you so much for saving us! How could we possibly repay you?"

"Oh, that won't be necessary. Your help testing the gloves was payment enough."

"Really, we have something for you. How about these stones? We found them in the woods, and we thought that they looked kinda cool."

Dr. Benzedrine examined the stones closer, and noticed that something appeared to be embedded in the rock.

"Wait a minute... I think that you discovered some fossilized shark's teeth! Thank you, I could probably do something with these. You two are welcome here any time. Just... If there's any way to tell me about your arrival, please try to do so in advance. OK, I think that the Photographer is away, but just in case, I'll walk you to the exit gate."

As they walked, several black-suited men wearing dark sunglasses began to walk towards them.

"Oh no! There they are! Run!"

The Twin Skeletons ran as fast as they could towards the gate, but they were cornered by the Photographer. He pulled out a camera when suddenly, Dr. Benzedrine came up from behind him and covered his eyes.

The Photographer flailed around. "Help! I can't aim my camera flash!"

Dr. Benzedrine pointed the Twin Skeletons towards the portal. "Quick, kids, run while you still can!"

Fortunately, they made it through the portal just in the nick of time.

As the Photographer and his Paparazzi slinked away from the portal, Gin's car slowly pulled up to the driveway. Gin got out of her white Mini Cooper and asked Dr. Benzedrine about how the tests went. As they caught up, they didn't notice that someone else was listening. On a hill behind Dr. Benzedrine's house, there stood a beautiful woman. She had dark brown hair, and she was wearing a purple performer's outfit covered in multicolored stars. The part that stood out the most about her, however, was the fact that she had red eyes. Not just the kind of red you get when you've been crying, but actual red eyes. As she watched and listened, she pulled a picture of Dr. Benzedrine out of her pocket.

"Oh, Stacy... You had to fall for her? Do you even understand who she is yet? Never mind, you probably don't. See you later, Dr. B."

(The woman teleports away in a burst of white light. Camera zooms out, revealing a computer monitor.)

<my dear... your dreams may soon come true, but only if you allow time to pass. don't get too impatient. stacy, stacy, stacy. if only you knew the truth... you wouldn't be so enthusiastic about gin being your assistant. the twin skeletons will return. you know, those shark's teeth are hard to come by. they could sell for quite a lot...>
