LUCA'S POV
The bell rang and Matthews finally stopped talking, I was just about to suggest we go do something but Maya ran out. Faster than I have ever seen her run. I dropped my stuff and chased after her, knowing they were all behind me. I could hear the sound of her heels clicking against the tile of the floor. Then the janitor door slammed shut. We all slowed, then stopped almost as if we were in sync. Riley started forward but, for reasons I didnt know, I just couldent let her go in there.

"Wait" She stopped and looked at me, confused but mostly worried. "I'll go" I turned to look at the rest of them behind me, we were all worried. As I moved forward, Riley moved back towards Farkle and grabbed onto his arm as if she was in a horror movie. For all we knew, we were.

I reached the door, I didnt know if I should knock or just walk in. I turned to look back at everyone, they were so far, I didnt realize that before.

Before I knocked, I just stood there hearing her deep breaths. Then before I was ready I felt my hand hit against the cold metal. "Maya..." I whispered. I opened the door slowly, she was as gorgeous as ever but there was something about the expression she held on her face, terror mixed with confusion. I shut the door causing everything to go black.

"Lucas" Her voice was soft and sweet but held something more powerful behind it. I flicked on the light, and it sent an eerie glow to the room. It was too dark to be able to read the cleaning supplies that lie behind her, but just enough that I could see her smooth completion, and that her hair had fallen just perfectly.

"Are you okay?" I mentally kicked myself angry that I didn't come up with something better to say. "If everyone keeps asking me that, than no" Before I could say anything else she let out a laugh that signaled she was being sarcastic.

"Maya."  I wanted the truth.

"I'm fine Lucas." I could tell she wasn't, her voice cracked and a tear was just about to drop. I pulled her into a hug, she was so much smaller than me, but so delicate. I didn't want to let go but I had to know. I pulled away and put my hands on her arms ever so gently, worried I would break her.

"Maya, don't lie to me." I glared at her. "Lucas, I promise, I'm fine" I started to feel more angry questioning why she was keeping the truth to herself.

"Maya, fine isn't running out of class like you were chasing a pizza, then hiding in a janitors closet." I was hoping she would react better if I was more forceful.

"Im not hiding if your here." She had let her guard down, something Maya Hart would never do, her voice was strong. She pulled from my grasp and reached for the door.
I didn't stop her.

I could hear Rileys shoes running for maya "Peaches!" she yelled, but not quite. Before anything else happened the door shut and slid down it and just sat there.
Something changed.
