MAYAS POV
(note to readers: this is going back to before she was in the hospital in case you get confused)

I woke up due to Josh's alarm, surprised I could hear it from the bedroom. I didn't want him to know I was awake so I pretended to sleep when he came in to get clothes. Without opening my eyes, I knew he was staring at me.

The front door closed and I watched his car back out into the street. "Sure took him long enough" I muttered. My phone had been buzzing all night so I turned it off, glad I wasn't able to hear the sound anymore.

I left the bedroom heading for the kitchen. He had bought more donuts, I ate those too. I watched cartoons for a little bit, they all looked so happy, that was when I remembered my plan.

I turned off the TV and made my way back to the kitchen looking through the cabinets. I grabbed the strongest pills I could find. I walked back to the bedroom with a bottle of water. Taking the pills as if they were candy.

I set down the empty container on the nightstand and held the bottle of water, watching the water bounce as my hand shook. Within minutes I felt tired and dizzy. I smiled "Its working" I thought to myself. I layed in bed, in the same position as I had, when I woke up.

JOSH'S POV

My boss let me have an extra half hour lunch break so I could eat lunch with Maya. I drove to in-n-out burger, knowing she loved their fries. Every time she and I went, she got two small hamburgers and a large fry. For a tiny girl she ate a lot.

I already was aware I ruined things for her. She was in a better place, then I went ahead and kissed her. I knew and I didn't know why I kissed her, we broke up right before she graduated high school. I guess seeing her again just made me remember how happy I was. Was.

I walked inside food in hand, hoping she would talk to me. I could tell she had woken up, she ate all the donuts again. Surprised she wasn't watching cartoons, I opened the basement door but the lights were off. Knowing Maya she probably fell back asleep.

I walked down the hall and knocked on the bedroom door, I didn't hear anything. I walked in hoping she wasn't naked. More like half-hoping. She was still in bed, the way she was this morning.

I shook her arm hoping it would wake her. She didn't move but I didn't worry. Maya was a very heavy sleeper.

I still had the air horn app from when we dated two years ago. It was the only sound that would wake her. After a few blasts at the loudest volume, thats when I saw the empty pill container. I dialed '911' as fast as I possibly could.

Quickly I heard the sirens of both the ambulance, and the cop car. I lunged forward almost falling on my way out the bedroom door, opening the front door for the paramedics. "Son, we are going to need to ask you some questions." The short, plump officer told me.

"Okay" I was still a little shook but I could talk. "What happened?" An obvious answer but he meant in more detail.

"I went to work this morning and came back with lunch. I found her in the bed, but she wouldn't wake up, thats when I saw the pills." I watched as they rolled her out through the front. "Do you know what kind?" He asked me. "Not really, but I have the bottle" I handed it to his partner and he sealed it in a ziplock bag marked 'Evidence'.

"Do you know her or anything about her." The second cop asked. I took a deep breath and continued. "Her name is Maya Hart, shes 20 years old. Were old friends. She came here Friday night crying. She got in a fight with her best friend and ran here. She looked kinda insane, she always did when she was apart from him for too long." The first officer was still writing down everything I had said. "Whos 'him'?" They asked. "Lucas Friar"

"Thank you sir" He started. "Will will be talking with you shortly, along with Lucas Friar." He turned to leave. "Thank you officers." As soon as they left, I ran to my car, trying to get to the hospital as fast as I could.

Apparently the officers had told the lady and the front desk I was coming. She told me which room Maya would be in when the doctors were done with her. I texted Riley, knowing she would be pissed and devastated at the same time.

LUCAS' POV
(note to authors: back in "real time" I think you get it now)

"Maya" I half-yelled pulling away from Riley. I ran over toward her and she looked past me towards Riley. "Where's Farkle?" Her voice was scratchy and quiet. She coughed and reached her arms out to her. I left the room knowing it was going to be a long moment. Josh was back outside the room so I left to go get water.

RILEY'S POV

I heard her talk and felt Lucas pull away from my arms faster than expected. I didn't think anything of it, he was worried. Farkle was still parking Lucas' car when Maya asked for him.

"He's coming Peaches" She looked sad and I knew why. Lucas and I had been her best friends for a long time, even if Lucas knew her longer. But when she was with Farkle it was if he was inside her head. He was always the genius when it came to Maya.

"Maya" She looked in my direction. "What happened?" She gazed out the window, watching the birds fly by. She got up even when I grabbed her arm to sit her down. "See these birds?" She pointed but I didn't move.

"They fly around because what good are wings, if you don't have the courage to fly. They sit on tree branches and don't worry if they break or not, because they have trust in their wings not in the branch." I never knew she had the mindset like this.

"That was beautiful Maya." She moved back over to the hard hospital bed. "Yea, but Farkle would have understood it."

(a/n) This is a long-ish chapter because all you (stares at one person she knows who she it) kept complaining so there. Happy Holidays!
