MAYA'S POV
I finally felt like myself again except no matter what i'm the background of everyones arguments. I was talking to Riley everyday, along with everyone else, and I was happy. There was only about two weeks until Christmas break, so the work load my teachers decided to dump on us had lifted slightly.
RILEY'S POV
I know Maya thinks we get less homework but I'm in advanced classes. If I could go back to freshman year me I would tell her to not take any advanced classes, ever. I continued working on my english paper when Lucas walked into my room.
"Hey Lucas." Ignoring the fact that he didnt knock. "I love you." He spoke fast but he was sincere. "What?" Honestly I knew what he meant I just wanted to know why.
"You broke up with me because I wouldn't tell you why Maya and I were fighting." I interrupted him and moved my laptop to the side. "Are you gonna tell me now?" He replied quickly as if he rehearsed this. "No-"
"Then whats different." I didnt feel angry but when I spoke I sounded angry. "Whats different is what we have," He moved closer to me, sitting on the edge of the bed. "You were angry, and we were all worried about Maya, but shes okay now-"
"She is and thats great, but my problem isn't with her. Its with you. There was a whole chunk missing from her story and you, my boyfriend were supposed to tell me those things. Its all about trust." He went silent and looked confused but started to talk once again.
"I get that, I really do. But Maya cant be the thing that keeps us apart. Were too good together." He got up and moved next to me. I take a deep breath and move closer to him. He was right, and I knew it.
We fell asleep like that. He was slouched against the headboard with an arm around me while I lay my head on him. But in just the right spot so Im not going to be in pain when I wake up. We both shot awake with the sound of the alarm. He shifted slightly but moved back and smiled once he remembered I was there.
"Morning" He said, his voice was groggy but it was cute.
LUCAS' POV
I felt like a boulder had been lifted off my shoulder once I came clean with Riley. I knew we both had to go to class but I didn't want to move.
"I love you too." Her voice was surprisingly smooth for just waking up. "Huh?" I was happy to hear it. "Last night, you came in here all manly and excited and blurted out 'I love you' and I never said it back." She was playing with the strings on my hoodie. "Well im glad you remembered." I kissed her forehead and she jumped up.
"Oh no!" She slid off the bed an ran to the bathroom, the door following. "What the fuck, Riley? We were having a moment." I joked and whined at the same time. She cracked open the door with a toothbrush in her mouth. "You kissed me, but my breath smells bad so I have to brush. And well im at it, I mine as well get ready." Even with toothpaste bubbles hanging from her mouth she was still cute.
I left to go get ready, which took ten times less time as it took Riley, but im not complaining. I walked back into her room just as she had finished changing. She ran over an kissed me. "There." She pulled away slightly and smiled. "Goofball." I laughed as I swung my arm around her shoulders and we walked downstairs.
Smackle and Maya were on the couch watching cartoons, still in the clothes they slept in. "Oohh." Smackle teased seeing us walk out together. Maya smiled and noded. "Farkle made food. Taste kinda funky though, I think he was doing a science experiment." I didnt know if she was using humor and a coping mechanism or if she was really just that sarcastic. I didnt spend too much time thinking about it because Zays shrieks had interrupted me.
