(Ember’s POV)

“Fuck, we are dead.” The character Luke and I shared was trapped in a corner and there were about 50 hell hounds running towards us. We both had quite possibly the shittiest gun in the entire game. My finger had slipped from under his and we completely missed the button, dying without killing one. “Shit, sorry Luke.” The other two died as well, but we had made it to a record of round 26.

“It’s alright.” I laughed into Luke’s arm and high fived them all as I stood up.

“Maya, we should probably go back to our room, it’s 12.30.” I said, yawning.

“What 12.30 am?” She shot up from her spot next to Ash.

I nodded and hugged the boys goodnight. I had never gotten on so well with people I had only known for a day. I could tell that this would not be just a holiday friendship. It would last a lot longer. Maya reluctantly said goodnight to Ashton and the others and we walked to our room. It turned out someone had booked the free room next to theirs so we went down the hallway to our room. I had looked in both rooms and I was glad we got the room we had because it was a lot more hospitable, with two bathrooms and bedrooms. This was good because Maya and I had so much stuff it wasn’t funny. We both went to the same bathroom to get ready for bed after we changed because we wanted to talk about the amazing day we had had.

“Well, that was absolutely the best day I have ever had. It totally made up for my stuffed up science exam."

“I told you it would and that was before I knew we would meet those amazing four guys we just did.” I laughed and smiled widely looking at her through the mirror as I plaited my hair for tomorrow.

“So you and Ashton huh?”

“Nothing serious I swear, he is so sweet though.”

“Nothing serious? You just left COD for him when he asked if anyone wanted ice-cream! You never ever leave COD for anything! Not even when I told you Zac had broken your iPad that one time remember? You flipped your shit at me because a zombie killed you and you started again, without even going to yell at Zac!” I exclaimed at her smiling even though I was mad.

“Okay, okay, I like him. Geez woman you know me to well. But I know you just as well and there is definitely something going on between you and Luke.” She gave me a smile that typically said 'you know I know don’t deny it.' I had received a lot of those smiles today. I continued to wipe my little make up off staring at the ground.

“Are you okay Ember?”

“Yeah, just thinking about everything that has happened today.”

“Then why are you sad, you just met not one but several amazing guys?”

“I know but I’m scared. What if I stuff it up. You know I’m not good at this kind of stuff. I’m too ignorant when it comes to this.”

“Well just be your usual self. Don’t change because you’re scared. Just let whatever happens happen. I think you won’t have to fight off your timidness he seemed to like you a lot. He acted different with you than me.”

“You really think he likes me?”

“The way he looked at you when we were playing COD I could tell. He pretty much held your hands when he helped you kill those zombies.”

“I guess so.” I laughed. “I can’t believe we lost because my finger slipped from under his.” I smiled at Maya because she and I both knew this wasn’t going to be any ordinary trip. We said our goodnights to each other and headed to our different rooms. I sat on my bed not finding any sleep. I watched as the clock slowly ticked over to 1.00am. My phone buzzed and I picked it up to see a text from Calum.
