Chapter 10

(Ember's POV)

I woke up and looked over at the clock it was 9.30 and the train was leaving in two hours.

“Shit.” I cursed getting up. I went to Maya’s room to see her fast asleep. I got up onto her bed and jumped up and down.

“Get up girl, you’ve got lots to tell me.” She opened her eyes but stayed where she was.

“Piss off Ember.” I laughed and moved to the door.

“Oh, by the way the train is leaving in two hours.” She sprang out of bed and we rushed to the kitchen to get breakfast.

I grabbed the yogurt out of the fridge. “Spill.” I said walking back over to the counter where Maya was getting out the bowls.  “When did he ask you?”

“At the ice-cream shop, before you guys got there.”

“That’s cute, same place you ditched COD for him.”

“Shut up.” She kicked me in the leg.

“Ow, so give me more details.” I said walking over to get the muesli out of the cupboard.

“Well, actually you know how, at the pizza place, when Ashton and I went to order.” I nodded. “When we walked up to counter she was like ‘Well, aren’t you two a cute couple’ and then Ash said 'so cute couple huh?' and I thought he was joking, so I went along with it, but then he told me he was serious and asked me to be his girlfriend and yeah that's pretty much it."

“That’s so adorable.” I awed and sighed making a face to her.

She laughed, “I said yes, obviously and……..” she paused to go grab some spoons.

“And what?” I exclaimed staring at her.

“We kissed!”

“Aww." I squealed and hugged her. "It would have been hilarious if Luke and I saw you. Just the comments that would have been made."

“Well, actually you almost did but you were bantering with each other about the hat, and you didn’t notice."

“Damn it.” I giggled and we went to sit on the couch with our breakfast.

“Has Luke asked you yet?”

“Asked me what?”

“To be his girl?”

“No way!”

“He hasn’t? Why not?”

“You expect me to know?"

“Do you want him to?”

“I don’t know. Not yet anyway. It would make leaving harder and uh, I just don’t know. I have only known him for two days and he lives in Sydney."

“So does Ashton and that doesn't even matter. As long as you love each other, you love him...right?”

“Yeah, but...” I trailed off, getting up to put my bowl in the sink. “I don’t think I can be his girlfriend.”

“What the fuck is wrong with you girl?” Maya asked, joining me at the sink. “He adores you!”

I mumbled again and walked to the bathroom. “Ember come back here right now!” I kept walking and she followed me, grabbing my arm to turn me around.

“Are you fucking blind? He loves you, I can see it in his eyes.” I half smiled remembering the song she just quoted but turned away, grabbing my hair brush.

“What the hell Em. Why the hell are you acting like this? Don’t you remember last night?” I didn’t answer and she stormed out. I looked at myself in the mirror, I had started crying. I sat in the floor wondering why I was crying, only finding myself crying more. I heard the door slam and tensed. I wiped my tears and moved into my bedroom. My phone buzzed and I picked it up seeing a message from Luke.
